No, not that much. I replaced in mine about a year back, but I don't remember how much they were.

Anyways if valve seals are gone, car should have oily smoke right?

Depends... the friend I mentioned did not notice any difference in the smoke, but the symptoms were very similar.

No oily smoke at all even at high rpm. But they were oily look on throttle body and 2 spark plugs' color has changed to some what violet.

And other thing they told was the fuel pressure. They checked with a meter, it indicated a value some where around 2.5. According to them that value should be 3.5.

And other thing I noticed after the clean up, the accelerator is really smoothly pressing, earlier it was bit hard to press.

Hi Guys,

It feels me something is not correct with my ek3 from a few days back. So I thought to tell you guys the whole history of the issue and share your ideas.

I noticed a small oil leak from the distributor oil seal. So the oil seal get replaced. After that I felt that the performance of the vehicle has dropped and ignition sounds (dont know this is the correct word, heard people say in sinhala ignition gahanawa it sounds taka taka taka) came up even in 1st gear when I push the accelerator.

Before the seal replacement, it was possible to go up to 70kmph on the 2nd gear. But after the replacement it didnt.

I asked the mechanic that is it necessary to do a engine tune up after the replacement he said that it is not needed and he has fixed the distributor to previous angle.

Then I went to a EFI tuning center and told about the situation. They cleaned up fuel intake system and kept the enging started using a chemical for 20 min. Then connected the car in to a scanner and said everything is ok now.

Further they have adjusted the tappet value clearance and now the engine sounds less too.

After the clean up I felt the car moving really smoothly but I still didnt feel the performance had before all the replacements and maintenance.

Then again I took the car to the EFI tuning center and told that the vehicle pulling power is not enough, they checked the fuel preasure and said I needed to replace the fuel pump too. At the time tuning they replaced the fuel filter and said that it was the factory fitted fuel filter and it hasnt changed before. Further they told that it caused to decrease the pressure of the fuel pump.

After that I didnt do anything, wish any one of you can help me. These days Maruti cars are also overtaking me .

Hi I'm not a very much familiar with Honda and I had exactly the same issue with my Nissan FB 13 after repaired by Oil leak on the Distributor unit.One guy in Nissan agents told me cannot guarantee the DB repair as it very sensitive unit. finally I did the repair it was malfunctioned. the MAKA bas finally changed the position of the BD unit , not sure advance or redert, pulling power is reduced by 50%. I had to replaced the Total DB unit to get my car back to normal. the issue was the current is not sufficent to burn the fuel after dismantle and assemble to DB unit.

Since the issue came after distributor seal change I suggest you check it again with agents or someone femilier with this model. And some places might have spare units for you to test and see.

Alos not fo doing any repair and tune up go back to first place where the Issue originally happen. it was DB oil seal.other wise you will be sepnding more money for trail and error method, try to replace with a another DB unit and see the difference, removing DB is very easy job.
