Good news Classic Nuts :)

The govt has issued a gazette effective February 1, 2011 stipulating that and car with a YOM of 12.31.75 or older will NOT be required to do an emissions test, REGARDLESS of Registration number.

I just renewed the revenue on my 9Sri without issues, so consider that the litmus test.

I've got a scanned pdf of the gazette (see my next post for image).

Good luck!

I also thought it was already in effect, but nevertheless good news to be confirmed for the enthusiasts. :)

Speaking of classic cars, is it actually allowed to bring down one still? Because the statement j) To assist enthusiasts to import Classic Vehicles here made me wonder, but the only discussion on the forum says it wasn't possible. So any idea about this now, now that classic cars are pre-1975 cars?

To be clear guys- i have a 9sri and because the "time of registration" was 1978, i had to get the green test done (although my car is a '73)...

Up until now, you had to make a special appeal to get exempted from the test if your car was pre-75 but had a post-75 registration...

This gazette, thankfully clears everything.

Good question actually. I also wanted to find out about the possibility of bringing down a classic to SL, yet to find any useful information. Anybody who knows anything the legislations involved, please care to share. :)

At no point in time did you needed a emissions test for pre'75 vehicles.

Been registering our '69 4DR5 without an issue. I was actually turned away by Laughs when I took it for the test.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but a 4DR5 is diesel- and i don't think the requirements were/have been as stringent on diesels.

But without discussing semantics, in the end its still good news in that most of us with old cars don't have to worry as much.

On contrary, requirements are stringent on diesels simply, the tendency of a diesel failing the test is high than an EFI petrol goes through the test like a charm.
