I found the following in some literature about Prius & thought would be useful.

"The emergency shut off system blocks off the high voltage current and stops the fuel pump to minimize the risk of electrocution & fuel leakage when a certain level of impact is detected by the impact sensor. If the emergency shut off system activates, vehicle will not restart. To restart the hybrid system, contact your dealer"

Since our local agents are not ready yet, I think the Prius users here will have to be carefuill not exceed the set level of impact.

:mellow::huh::angry::(:o

Well said stiggy..there is no other reason to get in love with hybrids...hybrids looks nicer than the value paid..due to tax reduction and it does better on fuel...thats all...if anybody who drives for pleasure..hybrids are not for them for sure...

hybrid technology is not just for econoboxes... even Porsche has hybrid vehicles!

BTW First Full Hybrid diesel sold out in just 9 days (but it was a limited production run) - doesn't seem to be a boring car at all!

Yes..what else..mate...fuel efficiency is the first priority for a daily traveler for more than 100 km....

Well a good alternative for such people will be a tuk tuk...

It does better than a hybrid on fuel, can be purchased at least a couple of million less, can carry equal (or sometimes more) number of people and goods, can breeze through traffic better, and there's plenty of climate controlled a/c..!!

Hey Californican, didn't you drive a Lexus 350,000Kms without any trouble once?

Californikan, on 23 March 2011 - 06:56 PM, said:

Yes. An Audi and a BMW. Both had terrible reliability. Lots of little issues like the check engine going on, electrical problems etc, and some big issues such as one cylinder suddenly stopping working and stranding me with the Audi. Compare that to a Lexus I put 350,000kms on and never had one single problem. People I know personally who've had Euro cars have had similar experiences and far more reliability issues with their cars than people I know with Japanese cars.

Heeyyyyyyyyyyy maaaaachaaaaang......I was only joking with you.....just pulling your leg.....no need to get so defensive. Now seriously, I read your statement and the lack of logic blows my mind.....so let me ask you about you some questions...

1) The Prius was the best selling car model ever in Japan last year. So you are saying that most of those millions of Japanese people who have bought Prius and other hybrids are homosexuals? And most of the Sri Lankans who have imported them from Japan are also?

2) Toyota has said all its vehicles will be hybrids by 2020. And auto experts say almost all new cars overall will incorporate hybrid technology by 2020. So according to your logic this means that most new car buyers on this planet will be or turn homo by the year 2020, no?

3) Some Formula One teams such as Ferrari use a hybrid system (KERS) in their cars. So you are saying that Formula One teams and drivers are mostly homosexuals too?

4) The Sri Lankan govt has given tax incentives on hybrids in order to encourage people to buy them. Therefore according to your statements, since the govt is encouraging a technology that is mainly bought by homosexuals, the govt is also encouraging homosexuality in Sri lanka, no?

- And finally, lets say you are offered a gift. Tax and insurance and petrol paid for you so the car is totally cost free to you. One of the 4 hybrids below. I assume because you are against hybrids, you will refuse the gift of one of these cars and just keep driving what you are driving now??

MD..this is what i feel on this matter...I'm a Prius owner too..though it's registered to my wife as she's using it more frequently and i'm out of SL most of the time..before buying a hybrid i found this article too and few friends advised me not to go for that even.My wife was very impressed with the size and the options of the car and mainly the fuel economy,as she drives nearly 90 km a day to reach to her work and for my son's school..So now we have found a definite solution for that...I think it's the unusual curve which makes hybrids looks odd...I think it's not a fare enough survey to say that generally hybrids are bought by gays..coz ,iF you consider the Honda Civic hybrid, It looks same as normal civic...so if you consider this gay factor ,then can we say that Honda Civic is a gay car too...lol :D

BTW..i don't care about those stories..If it's economical for my pocket..whats the problem neda machan...???

Yes, VVTi. It was an ES300 (based on the Camry). It was in the States so large amounts of expressway driving which is why I was able to rack so many miles on it.

Machan I feel that this article and survey also..made by some companies who's not yet producing hybrids and rapidly loosing their market due to hybrids..I was also having some questions even more questions than this and justifications on this factor..but machan this is not a survey done by our MD..it's just he bought this to the forum to make this topic more interested.. ..like you said machan i have to get in to a conclusion that most of the doctors of SL are also gay..coz I met a lot of doctors who had already ordered Prius..Instead of their 141 S...anyway machan ...It's up to the personal preference..for example..If a gay rides a racing bike that means racing bikes are gay??..If gay eats a certain kind of food, do we have to avoid eating it coz..it's gay food.. :D BTW..MASTER DON brought the right interesting topic to the forum....

My,someone is all hot and bothered...with pictures too...

and errr...I AM not saying anything. It's the SURVEYS that are saying that you are gay.

and according to the 'land rover relaibility thread" you are a big fan of surveys and take them seriously...So If you are saying the survey I posted is false then you should admit that the ones you posted are the fake too and apologize to everybody on that thread.

If you do not apologize, then we will have concrete proof that you are indeed a Homosexual. :)

How long did it take for you to do that much mileage?
