Special Number Registrations

Understand the fee for taking a registration number 3 series later than the current (ie registering a vehicle KP now) has been raised from 7,500 to a whopping 75,000. Surely no one will pay that much for a "special" number so we will go back to the old way of a "chit" system for sure...

yeah . .for front 10000 numbers its Rs 50000.00 and front 20000 numbers its 60000.00 and front 30000 numbers its 70000.00 .. . in one way its god . . since normally normal people can't get no which they like since always some influences play there .. but now it cant . . .good work . .

The Registrar of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is likely to increase charges for registrations with special number-plates from the current Rs.7,500 to Rs.70,000-75,000 shortly, informed sources said.

The charges for a normal registration will also be increased by Rs.300-400 shortly from the current Rs.14,000.

The charges have been increased by 1000 percent and according to the RMV most of the individuals who apply for special numbers are V*P’s, businessmen, architects, doctors, engineers and reputed professionals representing different fields.

The move comes a month after the excise duty on hybrid vehicles and petrol vehicles were increased significantly. Hybrids between 2000 to 3000 CC were increased by 75% and 100% for hybrids above 3,000 CC.

Earlier, there was no excise duty on hybrid vehicles but only 15% tax and a 12% VAT. In the past two months about 3,000 hybrids have been imported into the country.

i went to Micro today to buy a panda.. and they said the registration cost is gonna be around 18.500 or so..

are you serious? as if there isnt enough fishy business going on.

Example: Say I use my 'bought' KN-XXXX number on my old HJ-XXXX alion and bump up the price 300,000. The drop in value of my maturi from HJ->KN wont be 300,000 would it?

On the other hand would you want your old GA-XXXX plate that you paid for to be used on your shiny new prius?

One number, one car. End of story!
