It was never about making things easier. It was more about security. So the engine start process is now different to the engine activation process and it's much harder to jump start your car or duplicate a key.

That makes sense. But what if the smart key battery (or car battery) dies and the vehicle doesn't have a keyhole for a regular key?

Edit - Was wondering whether it was possible to capture the electronic signals between car and smartkeys and came across this;

guys see this link http://www.originalkeyless.com/ a smart key seller.but my only worry is are they reliable to purchase from credit cards. The first suspicious factor is they don't offer to pay through paypal,the other one is their email address is AOL which is free email provider just like Yahoo gmail. :unsure:

The window is made of glass! :D

So there's another added expense for smart key users

30k if the key gets lost an additional 200k or more if it was the only key Rs2500.00 for the battery of the key and 100k if the car battery runs out(for the window)

i read somewhere that smart keys were originally designed as a safety feature so that women wouldn't get mugged in car parks when they were groping around looking for their keys. got to admit, it always happens in the movies!

I'm not a lady so I use the good old metal key

All those allion p-use girls can use smart key.

Yeh i'll be looking trough the windows of allions and p-uses as they must be most probably driven by girls. :lol:

there r so many more

in the lexus u can program the memory functions to the different keys... so if two people are using a car, one person will have one key and the his custom positions will be saved on his key

Pet#o does it. Got my spare key done that way a few days ago because dealer had misplaced it (got it done on his dime). They even cut blade key. It cost 8000 odd.

I called that place.they asked me for 19500/=for smart key+programming+key cutting. I think that price is reasonable.i asked them that smartkey is genuine one . They saying that it is "identically same & its original"

Is there anyone who have got a smart key done by them?is it a original one or a copy?
