Thanks machan, I've heard some negative things about the fit aria the apearence and the fact thats its assembled in thiland doesnt seem to add up right. The HR-V looks nice and I realy like to have one but is the 1.6l engine powerfull enough? and how is the fuel effishancy of this? When compearing to the ek3 vi-rs these wont be able to beat it right?

Yes Fitaria and City is not upto what you are looking for..but I think HR-V is having a reasonably good acceleration, have you driven HR-V?? It's very good than people assess it from outside.. In fact the fuel efficiency at the lower side than Toyotas..but, If you need a good acceleration means ,automatically the engine capacity should be high..engine capacity high means the fuel efficacy is always at it's lower limits. To have the reasonably good speed and comparably better fuel efficiency ek3 is good I suppose..but I would personally prefer HR-V

yes machan most of the ones I've found were old shells. I guess I can find a 99/00 GT for 2.2mn. What do you think about the 1.8 Si?

and I also like the civic ek3 vi-rs. Did the ek3 range come past 1998? I have a small doubt about spare parts etc.

1.8 carina is has good power to weight ratio because of that it hs good acceleration but not as carina gt or civic vi-rs but si is comfortable than both vi-rs and gt.

civic ek3 range till 2000 and vi-rs specs comes from 09.1998 to 08.2000 and dont wory about spare parts i have vi-rs and i have no problem finding spare parts i want in kandy if you know were to look and maintaining them not hard as some people say overall it's nice car to own. B)

yes honda hr-v is nice vehicle and has good ground clearance i personally think it's best suited for our crappy roads but afaik civic vi-rs has more hp and hr-v is heavier than civic because of that i think civic vi-rs has best acceleration and fuel economy than hr-v.

Now my Gf has come in to play she also wants to use my car and she hate manuals. :P

And that is a VERY good reason to get a manual. If she isn't a competent enough driver to handle a stick shift, don't let her near YOUR car. She's a girlfriend, not a wife. It might be cute to let her drive, but you're the one footing the repair bills if she mucks it up. Unless you plan on regularly getting drunk and having you drive her home.

True machan this happened to one of my freinds, she hit the gas instead of the brakes and rear ended a van. The guy had to pay for all damages but still he lets her drive the car. :action-smiley-060:

The problem with me is that part of the funds are provided by her so shes got some what share of the car. I've seen her drive a stick and apart from the fact that she rests her foot on the clutch there were no other major problems. but still she hate sticks. :angry-smiley-048:

wat abt a subaru forester or a legacy?!?they both have awesome accelaration!

Dude if im going for a subaru I would also consider the impreza. But when considering the spare parts availability and second hand market I have to drop that idea.

I strongly advise you not to do it with a sharing basis..what is the percentage you are getting? If you want to do this do it with big share for her..so in maintenance she has to bear the biggest portion :box2: It was a joke man..go on and do it as you wish..good luck

heh heh My policy is if she scratches driving it she has to pay for it. :P My initial plan was to only invest 18 laks machan, but as she agreed to give me 6 more Im searching for a better newer option. But if Im going to settle with a 2000 Vi-rs or a carina GT I may have 2-3laks to spare.

Bro good acceleration doesn't mean that it should always have higher displacement engines. Its about Power to weight ratio. And Higher Engine capacity doesn't always mean those cars does less on fuel. :) Some cars which have 1300cc engines might have higher fuel consumption than the 1500cc variant of the same car. Its not about displacement bro. Its about power and weight :)

shes not that bad machan, compared to other girl drivers I've seen.

So guys my choices boiles down to these:

2000 civic vi-rs A/T might be able to find one around 2.0mn

2000 carina GT A/T might be able to find one around 2.2mn

2005/06 swift 1.5(ZC21S) or 1.6 sport(ZC31S) hard to find, dont know about the price range might not be able to find one within my budget.

civic vi-rs are not auto's they have cvt gearbox and i don't think you can find one for 2 mill they are has a higher market price than that.

Then I should be extra cautious about the gearbox as I've heard that Honda CVT's are very sensitive and require very good attention. Machan what about the Vi-Ferio, Ferio-Lev and ek3-Mi

Add to that, who gets the car if you break up? Only one name goes on the form. Again, shes a GF, not a wife.

if you take care the gearbox properly and change transmission oil in right periods you can run without trouble.

vi has the same 3 stage vtec engine as vi-rs but in vi rs suspension is stiffer than vi because of that it handles very well and vi-rs ecu is different and the interior is different and it has body kit 4 disk brake spoiler and rear black glasses are standard equipment in vi-rs

i dont have any experience with civic lev but it has 1.6 engine and civic mi has i.5 engine but it is not vetc and it is not have best acceleration like civic vi or vi-rs

Theres a registered SWIFT 1.6l sports (ZC31S) advertised today at AL its 3.3mn Damn! :(

Btw, you can also go for something like this; http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=50310

Slightly more expensive than it's sedan counterpart, but it's much newer than the Carina and the EK3.

Dude that ride looks sweet its a bit rare right? Hows the parts availability? and does it have the same acceleration like the carina GT and and the ek3?

drove a bj5p A/T sedan some time back didn't feel a big power deference compared with the FB15 I had at that time. But it was way better than the sunny.

and there was a supra advertised yesterday. http://autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=49069 GF or No GF I know what to do if I could afford that one :(

According to specs the Mazda churns out about 130 bhp. Should be around the same as a GT or ViRS, performance wise.

Hmm, hard to believe it would expensive to repair, given the amount of Familias on the road.

Yeah body parts might be hard to come by, I'm not really sure. You should PM evergreen for details.

But since it's for sale, just go check it out. You never know. I had no interest in buying my current car until my friend dragged me there and I saw it for real. I was so taken by it that I didn't even bargain. I thought to hell with the bloody resale value, spare parts, fuel consumption, blah blah blah, and just bought it. And it exceeded my budget by over 100k too. :)
