Congrats on the buy, hope you got it checked out before you bought it. Speaking from experience, a VW/Audi that has been screwed around with by Maka Baases who don't know what they are doing can turn into a proper money pit!

What I realized was, they are rigid more than what you think of them and running this daily basis is cheaper than travelling by bus.

Good buy. Especially since its a manual. Know of an automatic of the same which had a lot of issues with the gear box. From the speed sensors to what not! The lights on these cars tend to darken very quickly. Get them cleaned if possible or try to get a new set down on ebay. Would really add a nice touch.

any known issues with these cars and does 350 seem a good price?

Wasn't hard to sell at all provided that I sold after using it for more than three years and it was with a/c, p/s 5 fwd box with 4g15 engine. Not to mention the alloys, original interior and solid body. All went for 3.25/- up to you to gauge the price based on that.

ok that sound very reasonable and cheap price because now all are asking around 400k for a GLX and most are willing to come down for 350 only,the one saw and about to buy does not have P/S nor alloys other stuff is ok 4g15 engine and 5fwd

There's a VW/Audi specialist in the werahera area who can do all you need. You should probably get them to give you a full inspection report so that you know what to do.

He's the one that I know of and use.. Unlike the other Euro brands it appears that there aren't too many people who want to try their hand at fixing VAG products. Personal experience is that it's always better to go to someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to these cars because otherwise they can quickly drive you nuts...

Till the OP comes up with new GOLF pics, let me post some pics of my OLD GOLF MK1 series II. Needless to say that lot of value addition had gone in since I got my hands on her

it's got spotless interior with all original upholstry, seat covers etc. Have to tide up the rear door upholstry.

I'm sure she's a head turner!

Sorted out lot of electrical issues starting from glow plugs, turn signals, head lights! and the fog lights, reverse lights, horn and dash board indicators and dash lights (there were couple of days I used the phone light to keep an eye on the gauges )

Need to work next on the rear wipers and the washer

Who says one needs HID lights to make bus drivers to dip their lights? installed one relay each for dim, high beams and fog lamps in the shell. with that, I'm all equipped to make those ignorant fools to dip their high beams. (proven ). Elder one is looking into the "kabal white car" in his terms lol , he's in love with the Executive and hates travelling in this.
