Uditha88, thanks. Well this is just my opinion. As the market moves toward more aerodynamic shaped vehicles in the next few years, obviously not many will be willing to buy an older looking - quasi-box shaped vehicle. Hence I thought that the Rio (or the Accent) will hold on its own better than an R10 or an EG8. Couldn't it be possible ? After all, if there is no major issues with the Rio and Accent (the 2002 version of Rio is much better than the 2000 version it seems), and the fuel consumption and repair costs are comparable with the Japanese. Why not ?

No one can really predict the future. But based on past trends, Jap cars tend to hold their value better.

Nevertheless, it seems your mind is set on an Accent or Rio so any attempt to change opinion will be of little use.

Crosswind, not really on a final conclusion. I'm keen on finding out what could be the best option. Surely a Japanese car from same vintage will hold better than a Korean one. But a 2002 Korean vs a 1992 Japanese, not now, but five or so years from now on ?

Nevertheless, let's forget the resale value. Are Rio and Accent really usable cars ? No major issues that they are prone to ? I've noticed that the Accent has a tad higher value. Is it better on fuel consumption ?

Better consumption. bad Economy :D

I heard it's between 9-10.

@Pericles First time that I heard someone being so confident about it. Ever used one ? Indeed I too have narrowed the options to Accent and Rio now.

No I haven't. And I won't. But this isn't about a car for me. Its about a car for you.

@Pericles and if you won't mind my asking, why won't you ? Do you think that it will be a bad choice per my requirements ?

@Big_D Thanks. But for some reason I quite don't like the wagons or the hatchback. The Familia looks rather box shaped, doesn't it ? And the Spectra is pretty much the Rio, just with a different name, right ? It's now been out of production for a few years anyway. So will parts be an issue ? Any idea on the fuel consumption of the Nissan AD and Spectra?
