Vehicles Imported From Japan & Uk

thusithasam

Question

In local car sales we can see many vehicles they imported form Japan & UK. Some peoples are saying UK vehicles not good for Asian countries. But if we compare with same brand same model two vehicles, UK vision we can see many options. Some times UK imported vehicles are little bit expensive also.

Can you please post your ideas about this issue? :alc:

Thanks,

Thusitha

Trim levels and some options vary based on the market its made for even if the model the same same.

The biggest reason as I have noticed (especially on AL) is that the jap used cars have their computers and displays in Japanese and they cannot be converted to English. So massive fail there. No such problem with UK imports.

I too think U.K imports are better for quite a few reasons (listed below). Of course importers of Jap cars will put U.K imports down and U.K importers will put the Jap cars down. At the end of the day it all comes down to facts and figures.

1.) All vehicles are built to run in any environment. I.E tropicalized. So no A/C, rubber melting issues etc etc. (It must be noted that vehicles (cars) coming from either country have a lower ground clearance compared to the brand new equivalents.

2.) An approved used car will carry all the service history, accident repair records, and mileage certifications (not BV or JAAI cos they mean nothing). Therefore if a seller claims he's selling an approved used then he cannot fail to provide all the above documents. It must be said that an approved used car does carry a small premium but a premium well worth investing in.

3.) Full FM range (local conversions aren't successful), and switches and UI in English. Most sellers of Jap cars highlight Navigation, TV in the cars as options (useless options as they are all incompatible here). In fact some state DVD as well just cos it has screen for navigation. Most small Jap cars with screens have only navigation and do not have in built DVD players. Due to all of this the buyer pays a hefty premium for these useless options and eventually trades the head unit in for a low quality Chinese brand or a branded unit. Most importantly, pays extra for it. No such issues with U.K cars.

4.) All the above documents including the manuals are in ENGLISH. You don't have to go looking for your friends friend who happened to live in Japan to make sense of it all.

5.) No annoying Japanese female voices telling you to do things and making you feel like you are in a flight about to take off all the time when you are about to set off on your journey. :D

The major problem in UK cars in the leather seats. Its fashionable, but not match for the Sri Lankan climate

Fashionable? WTF? what the heck does that mean? We aint talking about clothes here.

And your second point is just plain wrong, leather seats work fine in SL as long as you keep them fed and conditioned. Only slight issue is that they are a B**ch to sit on when the car has been parked in the sun for a few hours.
