here is a picture of the switch found in a SX4 and what does the Lock feature do?? i guess the auto puts the car in All Wheel Drive mode(Full time four wheel, and 2WD puts the car in 2WD mode

This pic is not very clear, anyways, auto means 4wd activates only when rear wheels starts slipping, lock will simply lock it full time on 4WD.
