Recently bought a car ( Ford Festiva GLI 1996) previous owner has not used it for about few months. At the time of buying AC was not working ( NO cool) so i took it to an ac workshop and found out that gas was not there. Once the gas is pumped ac worked fine. I asked the technitian to check if there is a gas leak, I took it to the workshop the next day and found out that gas pressure is ok and there is no leak,But I am still worried cos when I bought it there was no gas at all and worried it will happen again. My question is 1. What would have been the reason to have no gas at all. Is it because previous owner didnt use it for few months?? or is there any other reason Thanks

Well, may be there might be a very small leak after all. Some leaks are not easily detected and sometimes you could survive even

up to a month before the gas leaks out completely.

Another cause which might be is that some technician[unknowingly] might have removed one of the AC lines in order to get access to some other

part of the car which may have needed repairing.[in some cars it's really hard to get access to some parts without removing many others]

In that case, pumping AC gas would basically fix the problem.

Just check the condition of the compressor and see if there is any wetness due to internal oil/gas seal failure.

There is a dye that they can add in with the gas to show any slow leaks. I would also make sure that there is enough oil in the compressor since you don't know how long the previous owner was driving without it working. Best option is probably to get the whole thing serviced.
