Hello folks,

Does anyone knows the advantages of changing an OEM air intake to a cold air intake system (except the pulling power)...??? how will be the fuel efficiency, engine life time???

The factory air intake is placed in such a way that it avoids water and other unwanted stuff getting in to the system. Also if u keep the stock filter, doing this will not do much of a difference .

Best is just to fix a K&N filter for your existing box ( Search the site if they have that for your car ) , will give you a small increase in power but u will not notice any fuel saving. Unless u are a major performance enthusiast I would not recommend the cone filter, as its exposed inside the engine bay, all the fans working create a lot of dust and oil residue, so the filter will get dirty quickly. Also during servicing u need to cover it up ( I think).

Also u keep to keep in mind that the K&N will NOT filter as well as the original one, although claimed by them. If this was the case all cars would make this as the stock filter.

'HB211',

I have modified this above said system for two vehicles. The performance I did not get as the manufactures recommend,Then we did not have a dyno to test the vehicle before and after the modification.

Try with Mr. B Weerasinghe. Go to his work shop who has a dyno. He will give you a better explanation on cool air intake and he do modifications for vehicles for improved performance, at Dutugamunu street near next to Japanese children school. When you go towards kohuwala junction.

Is it worth to do a dyno check to see such a small increase if any in bhp ? How much does it cost for a Dyno runs ? I think it was over Rs 10k, not quite sure though.....

I wouldnt put a car on the dyno just to check how much HP it has gained after installing a cold air intake. However the dyno is pretty useful to tune cars.
