In UK, vehicles with little corrode are cheap at auctions. This is why importers always snatch them up quick an ship them in to SL.

Ahhhhh.... the Sri Lankan car market..... what's a few spots of rust if the car does 16kmpl and impresses the hell out of the nest door neighbor.... :)

You can save all the money for a kick ass corrosion repair job later on.

UK used cars tend to end up with a little bit of surface corrosion in some components due to salt used to grit roads in the winter. In most modern cars its rarely an issue and often depends on the build quality of the car. Most of the time the corrosion is limited to surface corrosion in suspension components and I've not seen it become a notable problem in cars except old Rovers, Minis and Land Rovers. All you need to do is to give the car a good underbody wash and then treat it with a protective paint or tuff coat.

Jami,

We get two year old cars Commercial vehicles are under five years old. So to set in corrosion there is very little time. If you happen to buy A UK import do a good undercarriage wash examine carefully, cleans scrape any corroded sections. Do as don said. Treat it with a protective paint or tuff coat.

There is lot of rumors for UK imports. By Japanese vehicle used vehicle importers. Most of them few years back imported plenty of MB, BMW and other vehicles to our country they are still running.

Those who imported from UK RHD Vehicles inform the buyers they are discard vehicles by the UK users. Due to corrosion on the undercarriage. Because now they import Japanese vehicles

Its a very serious myth that UK imported vehicles are full of corrosion..Obviously corrosion and signs of the early stages of corrosions are visible to naked eye.

Its a fact that EU counties are commonly using salty substances to remove ice from roads, but as I know majority vehicles wear aftermarket protective underseals and its a common practice of regular underbody wash when exposed to salty environment.

Its true that EU imported used cars are vulnerable for under-body corrosions and corrosion is something thats always visible. Good inspection can conclude that. Last but not least, many parts of Japan exposed to icing conditions are also using salty solutions.

is this salty substances used only EU countries, why this not use in Japan or in china???? and what is the best penetration oil we can use here?

From personal experience I can say that the best penetration oil would be KY. Vaseline is also good, but KY is better. Some Chinese 'vehicles' need extra KY due to their body structure and our Sri Lankan drive shafts are a bit umcomforatable at first for them. But after a few drives they are as good as any village lass.

If you like them a bit salty, try not to wash beforehand.

Miniace, do the Japanese use salt on their roads at all? The general perception seem to be they don't. Even Minis imported from Japan back to the UK are usually in pristine condition!

'VVTi',

I hope you have very good experience with Chinese small vehicles. There are more than 30 Chinese vehicles are parked, small medium and big next to my building in a 15 room A/C garage on 2nd floor. They are running at different times of the day to serve locales hiring rates is not that high? Ranging from Rs.5000.00 to 10000.00. I get their salt smell when they drive out for bookings. For me Srilankan Vehicles are better.

Yes you are correct, the general perception is that they use very little salt. Actuality is they use salt mixed with chemicals more often than not. I know one place Hokkaido use non mixed salt on highway links and public roads.
