Question

Hey, Post your experiences and thoughts of N2(99.5%) in Tyre

I filled the Tyre set with N2..it seems bit difference to me..when driving on rough roads where carpet is worn out.........Bt i dnt knw Actually N2 in Tyre is da Reason or not..........

Composition of Atmosphere..... Source-- WIKI

As you already know normal air means 78% of N2 so filling with 99% N2 means just adding 21% of N2 instead of O2 (bit heavy).

So I dont think you can feel any real difference in normal driving conditions.

May be you are feeling some placebo effects!

I have been using N2 recently. The only good reason is : They fill N2 more generously than normal air (in fuel stations) :sport-smiley-004:

When they fill Normal air, they do it carelessly ...

Nitrogen is only useful in performance application where normal air is too unstable (for example the Nissan GTR where the tyres are subjected to massive forces due to sudden changes of direction).

I am also using N2 nd only advntage I have is the drop of tyre pressure for a month is minimal (about 1-2 units) compared to normal air.

If you are losing pressure (even 1-2 units a month) something could be wrong with your tires/valve and/or rims. This is irrespective of what you pump in the car. You might as well get them checked. For example, my Focus has not lost pressure, even with plain old air, for over 4 months now but the older car which has a minor dent in the rim tends to lose about 1-2 units a month.

If you're dropping that kind of pressure, I suggest you get a new set of wheels

once four of us went on certain trip to yapauwa, kurunegala and some other places....

looked for a fuel station to pump air and found a tyre shop which had ONLY nitrogen :S

The thing is that 5 weekdays car is parked in my gurage and only in weekend I use it. Tyres & valves are new (6000km only) but as you mentioned may be a issue with rims. But after I swiched to a N2 see a difference, lesser drop for a month.

i'm thinking of starting a business that sells air compressors that produce the perfect combination of gases to fill into tires. On the ads it will say; "N2 with added O2 for extra performance." The mix will be 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen.
