I am thinking of buying an Elantra 2012 Hyundai. Does anyone know the showroom price?

What are your thoughts? I heard that Elantras fuel efficiency is awesome .

You do realize that American reviews mean nothing when it comes to buying a car that can handle Sri Lankan Roads right? infact you are probably better off using reviews from india (if any).

Also U.S. models would have some variations from models that you buy brand new in Sri Lanka. The same would apply when compraing JDM to Brand new in Sri Lanka. This includes the suspension. Maybe you should google it, since that's where you excell.

Honda Civics look is not eveb closer to Elantra. It looks a like a Honda Insight car which I dont get that prestigious feeling!

You're making a good choice. Nothing to worry about. It was chosen as the car of the year in some prestigious Automotive Magazines.

I marvel at the Korean automakers.They have made huge bounds and leaps in a very short time. They plan to become to come under the top 5 rank for Quality & Reliability. The down side is that the Sri Lankan agents for Hyundai and Kia don't give good after sale service ( Especially the agent's at Kia). In 2011 May, decided not to buy the all new Sonata because they said it would take 10 months to deliver.

Make sure you chose a color that accentuates the beautiful fluidic sculpture design. Spec your car properly. Have fun & Good Luck with the agents!

Not true. All well-done car reviews and car tests have some value and something to contribute, whatever part of the world they may be from. Most importantly, what car tests from different countries contribute is a different perspectives and contexts of the car, as well as different testing procedures and additional information and knowledge.

Saying an American review of a car means nothing is as small minded as saying a Top Gear review means nothing and is of no use because it is British. It's as small minded as saying that Supra Naturals TV show mean nothing and is no value because it's Sri Lankan. Can you understand that if everyone outside of SL were to have such a perspective of Motorque, how small-minded that would be of them? You are being just as small-minded by saying that car reviews and car information from outside of SL means nothing.

Even the OP cited South African and American tests of the Elantra, and the Elantra winning South African and American Car of the Year as the reasons for why he is choosing it.

Yes, of course, international car reviews and international car websites are not directly translatable to SL, but that doesn't mean they don't have some good interesting information for the local car enthusiast and car buyer. I didn't ask him to buy and Elantra based on the American reviews, I just suggested he check them out. Check them out means to just look through the articles for anything of interest and value.

Sri lanka its different all the people are into Honda Toyota Nissan thats their mentality they dont want to go for a korean car. Elantra 2012 is way better than any Toyota car. The feel the look the features!

Toyota interior is pretty bad too!

A vehicles quality is not necessarily measured based on how it looks like in the showroom, but on how it survives 5 years of proper usage. Euro's and japs have proved themselves to be in the forefront of this aspect. Whilst Koreans do have made some leaps and bounds, its yet to be seriously competitive on this aspect
