Hey guyz, I was planning on exporting some hand picked good stock from japan. maybe diesel jeeps like mitsubishi pajero's to uk and register them there and de-register and bring it to sri lanka. The reason is due to the tax increase in the market. So any valuable comments??? :sport-smiley-004:

You know that UK has strict MOT on Japs. Al right.. So think twice. I don't think you can save money from this.

Finger's Crossed.. This is how They want to avoid SL Tax scheme by paying a tax to UK

Whatever the tax I pay there, I sure can claim it, coz both the companies in japan and uk are mine. 2012 is a very bad year for imports.. arghhh... no more diesel dreams..

i dont think you will make any profit by doing this

because:

1. the import duty does not depend on the country from which the vehicle was imported, but the agents FOB (will be depreciated depending on the age), options/fittings, freight, insurance........... the freight and insuarance are sky high from uk compared to japan according to my knowledge

2. probably you are under the impression that you will be able to register an old vehicle in uk, and get a new registration number and send it back to sri lanka. No you cant fool the customs by this method as there will take the date of first registration of the original first registration........ and indeed it will be documented on the the uk log ( CR)

think and plan before jump

best of luck.......................

You run a company in Asia and on Central Business Hub of Europe which is UK and your telling me you don't know simple tax scheme and business tactics to import exports. Can I know your UK business address please. coz I like to pay a visit and mediate yourself free of charge.

I don't think that it is possible and worth to do.

In case if it is possible, you have to pay freight twice. Again import tax twice.

Why don't you import Mitsubishi Shogun (UK model of Mitsubishi Pajero) directly from UK to Sri Lanka ?

I have seen few Mitsubishi Shogun are running here.
