DVT

Recommended Posts

Am just thinking to upgrade my existing Sedan ( sylphy 2003 ) to a SUV.

The budget is around 5 to 6 million.

Thought of following SUVs

RAV4

GRAND VITARA

I like Grand Vitara because of its bgger look. Not sure of anything else.

Guys ' pls throw some food for thoughts.

May be some other recommended SUVs.

Thanks

Well you could add the CR-V RD-7 and the New X-trail to the list,

And I would put the Honda 1st on the list closely followed by the Suzuki then the Nissan, with the Rav4 much behind.

And if you understand Korean the Santafe V6 and the petrol sorrento are also there.

From the Petrol list I would chose the Honda CR-V.

But if it was my money would i buy it,

No

Because it will be me who will have to fill her up,

So that's why I'm using a 2007 Japanese montero sport.

That's because I learned a small lesson using a petrol X-Trail :D

Thanks for your valuable thoughts.

Sorry , I was under the impression CRV is behind RAV4 in terms of fuel efficiency.

Just to know how much was your montero sport and how about the fuel efficiency. (assume which is diesel )

IMO If going for a petrol for that extra comfort I don't see a point in settling for a Rav-4 considering a small difference in economy it may have over the CR-V

Actually I said I'm using a Montero Sport which I bought about 5 years earlier,

I have used it for about 150 000km no issues to date,

Only thing was the EGR needed to be cleaned only costing me Rs 1200. In addition to periodic maintenance.

Usually a careful driver (Not a lead footer or hypermiler)

I get 10kmpl short distance and 12kmpl long distance.

The best thing is it is one of the last models which you can pump normal diesel without issues as it is non CRDi

It's not performance vehicle for sure but it achieves highway speeds with ease and it is a balanced offroader.

With it's independent suspension and velvet seats it's comfortable.

Maintenance is pretty easy has a 4D56 non-common rail intercooler turbo engine found in the palathsaba pajero and can be repaired by any local Makabas.

Wish it had a leather warped steering and electric seats but everything can't be 100% perfect.

For my traveling in the highway, and visits to rural places the vehicle is more than enough.

There are a lot of these vehicles which were bought by doctors and been sold to extremely reasonable prices as they are receiving another permit.

As i saw in Autolanka classified they are going around 6million.

Unlike mine most are usually run on paved roads (sri lankan SUV usage :D ) and have lower millage than mine.

It won't feel as exclusive as a petrol one but it will be practically usable every day.

I orignally hated the rav4 , buh then my dad bought a 2003 D4 direct injection Rav4 J Darn this shits quick and isn't bad to at comfort, rides smooth, Looks Hot with dead black paint job.

Thanks .

How is the fuel economy mate.

I am looking for one YOM 2008 at least. So that average asking price 6.2 mn. Do you think the price worth the deal.

Finally found someone monthly pumping a lot of fuel like me. My parents think I'm crazy though :sport-smiley-004:

We pump in 95 octain and I can fiarly tell it does around 8-10Kmp/l Yeah sure Rav4's are pretty decent SUV's mate and the new Rav4's come in VVTi I guess that mean more fuel economical. I'll tell you one thing mate Just buy what your heart wins don't buy for the sake of people telling you this and that.

Cheers mate!
