Question

Hi Experts,

I recently bought a toyota vios. There is a chara-chara sound comes from engine when accelerates. One of my friends examined it and said it is regarding the 'BELT' and may need to replace it. Can anyone tell will that be the real problem and if it is, how much cost it?

Thanks

Sampath

If the sound its actually related to belts..then one or more belts could be loose and the noise will stop when it's tightened to proper tension. If the belt is damaged or worn out its better to replace with a new one and won't cost you much and in most cases you can replace it by yourself..

So this is different from the "Kara Kara" sound that was coming the last time? Or is ch pronounced k?

Could also be a bearing. Just take the car to a competent mechanic. As Terra probably alluded to, its not easy to diagnose problems based on noises you can't actually hear.
