tilvin
Hi Friends, I bought a car recently which has a good condition engine. Unfortunately the previous owner has used Castrol Gtx 20w50 engine oil, without any possible reason. When I service the car next time, will it be possible to use Castrol 20W40 instead of high viscosity oil? Will it cause any issues?
VVTi
What do you mean, unfortunately? GTX 20w50 is a fairly Ok formulation for hot SL Conditions, I run my Forester on that and previously I ran a Nissan P11 also with absolutely no issues. Agree with VVti.. probably your engine is in good condition because he used a quality oil.. you can try with a bit thinner oil if you really want to. As long as it dsnt burn..you should be ok.. if it does.. go back to previous grade..
