Hello gentlemen,

Recently bought an Eg8 92 Vtec-E ferio.since then was doing short runs car was in good runing condition.. till yesterday i went on a long run started arround mid day and then rode on with full a/c in about 60-80 kpmh for abt 20 km .. Then suddenly i saw engine temp indicator was nearing the red zone .. Instantly i stopped the engine kept it for cool down after some time opened the radiator cap checked the coolent was 90 percent filled it up little more and reserve tank as well and continued the journey when doing low speed heat is at the half of the indicator but when speeding up the indicator tends to rise ..took it to a a road side garage as iwas away from colombo.. The garage person said that there must be a bottom gasket leak in the engine because that the compress air is been introduced to the water circulation system ..its apperent that the radiator in and out rubber lines are bit hard and fomation of air bubbles in the radiator when the cap open engine runing ..so what am i supposed to do now is it ol if i continue like this for some time because i am doing short runs now.. Exuse me for the long description .. Thanks..

If that is the case ,change the gas cut as soon as possible and check any blocks at the radiater.(it may need to phase the surface when you put the new gas cut)

No offense mate, but when you give advice, at least try to learn the correct spelling of the part so that you don't confuse the hell out of people.. It ain't "Gas Cut", it's Gasket.

Hopefully with the new gasket on the civic will be trouble free for at least another 50000 km's (hopefully). It's uncommon and rare to hear a civic busting a gasket?, the previous owner might have some serious explaining to do lol

Hello everyone, the condition is some how seems critical..need immediate advice from the experts ..please could any one advice..

Took the car to a reputed place in kadawatha and they replaced the gasket and completed the work but after starting the car it seems something wrong faulty start sound and the rythem of engine seems abnormal and can feel the smell of unburned petrol and the engine runing is not steady few misses as well and engine heats up rapidly those are the symptoms ..the garage head mechanic claims that its because the timing belt he installed is faulty have to re adjust it seems this guy is lost.. Could any one advice is this the fault and please advice on immediate correctice action... Thank you.....

Although not an expert, living with an Eg for 3years now and went through this senario just 2months after the purchase. In my case got blown gasket due to waterpump faliure and my makabas mechanic at that time just replaced the waterpump alone and said gasket was ok. Ultimately had to replace the gasket. I think You have to find a proper mechanic and get a proper diagnosis. Its better to put a new timing belt and check the condition of waterpump and radiator . Can recommend Indika @ kolonnawa as few of our Honda guys go there .

Seems to me like a timing belt issue.

but with my previous experience if the timing belt is off, its hard to start the car as well.

but do check the spark plugs as well.. coz it also sounds like the car is running on 3 cylinders.

Edit - wait, is this Dinuka? o.O

Well if you smell unburnt petrol it might be the intake manifold since the car overheated there might be a hair line crack that might have been made, even thought the manifold is made to handle harsh and rough conditions and since the car is a 92 it might need a new manifold (remove the shield and check for cracks on the manifold) .

Hondas can take good thrasing and still go hard for years but your civic has had too many from it's previous owner, wayyyy too many :(

Thanks a lot for ur highly valueble inputs ..so i am gonna give one more chance to the mechanic he keeps on saying he can fix it but hoping he will do bttr tmrw .if not i will take it to a honda specialist before things go beyond worse.. just one more question guys ..if the guy sets the timing belt wrong will it ruin the timing belt because it was replaced 10,000 km's before..almost new i guess..

Hello machan,

The mechanic managed to put the timing belt seems he has done it correctly..infact he is a toyota specialist not sure with honda stuff..so taking the car today to get it checked from a honda guy few more things as well cleaning fuel injectors n throttle valves..

And one more thing, scanned the car from auto miraj everything was fine except error code showing IAT (TA) censor circuit low input..anything can be done about or any one has gone through this..please advice...
