Day Time Running Lights -Kia 2011(Sportage)

Hi all,

Just a quick question.

As you may know "day time runnung lights" is an option for kia 2011.pls let me know if there are places in sri lanka who can fix the same for one that came without.

why would anyone need DRLs in a sunny, mild weather country like SL. They are for countries where sever weather hampers visibility and safe operation of vehicles. I think, not sure, but Volvo first introduced the DRLs for their cars to take the task of turning on the lights away from the driver so as to ensure a passive safety system.

So you are going to fix thoran lights on your friends car? If you wanted to get him in bed you could just take him out for a nice dinner and movie. Brokeback mountain would work.

If your friend is seriously struggling to get an erection without one, they are probably integrated into the head lights. So you probably need some new head lights with them on for starters and then figure out what else is missing from the circuit. If the manufacturer used the same wiring loom its likely all you need is to fix the connectors which are already there and possibly the relays that make the system work. I am not familiar with the specific model so to be honest this is a stab in the dark.

People in this country used to die from suicide bombs and continue to die because of floods and other natural disasters. Yet OPs friend is dying because he doesn't have daytime running lights on his permit sportage. Ane paww. Lets help this underprivileged man

I altogh introduced as a safety feature itoght that DRLs where just for looks in sri lanka

As per answering the question...

Yes you can fit daytime running lights...

Two options...

1-buy the OEM Headlights for the later model, so it would be easy swap, same wiring harness can be used, so you've just to plug the socket.eventhough if plug is missing in your one, wiring is an easy task.mind you it'll set off some bucks .

2-you can fix locally sourced set or one imported throug E bay.it won't be a such huge task.

And as a footnote, it won't give much of a use in view of safety, but will add some cosmetics to the car.

Because lot of fuss about safety here,

Tell your friend running with DRLs increases fuel consumption (it actually does). Then he will be in a real dilemma.......die of wanting to fix DRLs, or die of increased fuel consumption!

Then it can be fitted with very low cost but not the original like the manufacture fit, Available in Sri Lanka is the LED lights normal Illumination type.

It is available in 5 meter roles at 600.00 to 750.00 Rupees at 1st cross street Pettah. Only to wire same they are 12 volts DC.

DRAW OF BOTH WILL BE UNDER 1 AMP NOT NECESSARY TO FIX A SEPARATE RELAY CAN WIRE TO SAME IGNITION SWITCH.

I will inform the place for him to go and buy the required LED lights of what is available in 3 to 4 colors he can select color as he likes.

There will not be a extra fuel cost due to very little draw of current. I have them used for last 6 months or more.

Fitting is nothing DIY. They are water proof out door LED lights, comes with back gum tape for pasting on round the head lights or on the light cover.

I have fitted them to my side mirrors and under the grill, so that they will come on when the Heat light switch is operated.

Have one small set on the side mirrors, amber color for them to operate when the signal lights are on.

I used recently illuminate the STAR which was on the Bambalapitiya ST MARY'S CHURCH for Christmas feast.

Every night it was on for more than 15 days with a small 12 volts battery.There were 35 meters of LED bulbs was used. Very little draw of current.

There will not be a extra fuel cost due to very little draw of current. I have them used for last 6 months or more.

Fitting is nothing DIY. They are water proof out door LED lights, comes with back gum tape for pasting on round the head lights or on the light cover.

I have fitted them to my side mirrors and under the grill, so that they will come on when the Heat light switch is operated.

Have one small set on the side mirrors, amber color for them to operate when the signal lights are on.

This KIA, I'm afraid, is going to end up looking like a riced up Leyland bus.
