Advise - Honda Motor Bikes

Dear All

I’m planning to buy Honda motor bike – probably Honda Jade. Hornet is very expensive

However i have heard some rumours that Jade is a Old model – 1998- 2002. But some of them are selling YOM 2006 and some of them are changing the chassis number too. 100->120

How can i check this thing, and can somebody advice me on this please.

Thanks

sira

not an expert on that model but if you do some online research...you can find out about all the little tid bits that are different from model to model.

Things like lights, fairings even the engine casings shapes change slightly from model to model.

Also afaik, Jade isn't a super in demand model for people to be going through the hassle of changing things up.

Say for a cibbie or hornet...the story is different cos they are in demand...

good luck

The Jade is a pretty old model but old Japs are known for their longevity. I haven't really heard of people changing chassis numbers at point of resale although most importers grind off the chassis numbers for importation.

I wouldn't worry about the chassis numbers or registration numbers if the bike is running well. (Unless your sole objective is to negotiate the price down) Check the bike properly, preferably by someone who works extensively with jap bikes and quote a price based on what it's worth to you.

Based on my experience with a four-pot ( A 1993 Suzuki Bandit which I bought unregistered with 14K KM on the clock) they are a bit tricky to get right (with the four carbs being the biggest headache) but extremely fun once you find the sweet spot. I'm not saying Jades have sketchy engines but do approach with caution being a carbureted four-pot from the '90s.

What's your budget if you don't mind sharing, you might have more options open than you might think.
