And you would do well developing some patience. Fact is this is not an on demand service and everybody has their own day jobs to do as well! Unfortunately google does not turn up anything positive. Some say compatible some say no and totally confusing. Unfortunately you too seem to have lost you patience growling at me!!!!! What made you think I was expecting an "on demand service"????? Jumping to conclusions?????? Cool down and have a nice day!

Jumping to conclusions?????? Cool down and have a nice day! These are warm days here in SL! IMO the best answer to your question is the number of responses you got. I agree with The Don's reply but there are arguments for and against the compatibility of the two. But the common notion is that you either go with the vehicle OEM's recommendation or use whatever you have been using for years on the same AT box. I never take chances with my ATs and always go with OEM. This reminds me the transition from pre-DOT brake fluids (both crimson and yellow colored) to post-DOT. Both type were fine on their own (although DOT rated ones were much improved) but if you mix them or change completely without replacing washers you would definitely end up with trouble after sometime. BTW what made you to post this thread with so much urgency?

My personal view is while in standard practice one maybe used in place of another, in real life you cannot assume the manufacturer has tested both standards. And since there cost difference between the two is minor and both standards are available in the market, you should just stick to the standard recommended by your manufacturer. Its simple common sense!

Rumesh88, Thanks for the input. Vehicle tranny is being serviced at the moment and Caltex Dexron III is much cheaper than the original Mitsi SP III. As the dipstick says "SP III or equivalent" was wondering what was "equivalent' and whether Dexron III was one of them. Google was not helpful. Anyway went with original Mitsi SP III. However you don't seem to have noticed that my first post was at 10.19AM which was edited at 10.47AM and my second post was at 10.21PM - 11 hours+ after the first edited post, and not " bumping up a thread couple of minutes after creation".
