How To Find Engine Is Original

Hi all,

I have a question when selecting a used vehicle how to find if it has the original engine from the manufacture. If an engine has been replaced and registration certificate is updated correctly, will there be more than one engine number in the certificate? Or will it be only the current engine number?

If they have fitted a new engine and if they legally update RMV then it will be indicated in the CR. Hope i was helpful.

The book with show the old engine number as well as the new one showing it has had an engine replacement. There is a section in the CR for special notes.

I saw two vehicles when i was seeing jeeps (basically old ones) that they have replaced the engine and the number of the original engine has cut on the new one by removing its own number. It is a common thing as I found and for the good, I avoid buying such vehicle at last. Anyway some says its not a huge problem and only the chassis number should remain original. Hope some expert can explain the legal issues of this and the info we need to know. Thanks.
