Any idea about the places selling branded (Osram/Phillips/?) H4 hid kits?

Other than mentioned brands what are the other reputed brands?

I recently gotta know that Osram does not produce Hid Kits and they produce hid bulbs only, so what we get here as Osram conversion kits are fake, Osram web site not mention anything regarding conversion kits either!

Could anyone clarify this?

I read somewhere that reputed brands do not produce conversion kits, those conversion kits are mostly made by fake Chinese rip off companies

I remember reading that same scenario for brands like Hella as well. They just build the bulbs, not kits. According to that article, non of the major manufacturers do kits due to people using them in reflectors and the associated legal issues. I didn't go any deeper to verify this but if you can't find a kit in the Osram site, that suggests what I read may be true.

Interesting point is I just called local Osram dealer, the guy who is in charge of their automotive bulbs section told me they have conversion kit "Osram Xenarc H4 bi xenon conversion kit" which is Made in China and price is around 20000/=.

Their halogen "Night breaker" is genuine made in Germany!!

So I think these agents do not know what they are selling or just try to rip us off!

Spending 3000~7000 for a generic Chinese kit is ok but spending 20000 for a fake Osram is too bad

What they do is, they piggy back on the bulb's brand I think. When you look at it, you see Hella or Osram on some components and will be happy with it (rightfully so). Like you said, a generic Chinese one would be the best bet. If you look on Ebay, you can find the whole range of colour temperatures if you don't want to go 8000K.

wonder how it is with philips. and i stroke out lucky, both my fogs and heads i bought some cheap chinese sets (not the usual one that magnum posted) and luckily for me my balasters were made in german (or so it says) but the rest has made in china written all over it

Phillips is similar story, not a single word in their website (even SE region website)!

But local agent said they have (not at the moment for H4) "genuine bi xenon conversion kit".

They too sells halogen "Xtreme vision". But I was not able to check however.

But "Promota" (web site) has the conversion kit, unfortunately I was not able to find anyone (even Sun Lanka/Pet#o/Bara/Advance) sells that kit.

Found one place which sells steel mate xenon kits (according to them), but no such item in web site!

I gave up idea of putting xenon, until I get some used Japanese kit at least.

I will replace my bit discolored lamp assembly and it will give more than adequate road illumination with Osram night breaker.

I have seen in some forums ppl putting big fog/driving lamps behind the front grill hiding the lamp and yet good illumination so worth trying it!

They are not bad as you think. ( I'm referring to a kit with projectors.) it doesn't make any difficulties even with 8000K ( I do lot of night driving ) and its high beam is superb. You can have a ride on my car to check that out. Let's wait for comments from guys who are using HID.

Running with non branded Chinese kits (h1& h3) on projector housing for close to 3 years now. One ballast went dead within 1st week and replaced under warranty . Like charith I too doing about 500km of night driving per month. So they are not that bad.
