derickreaper
Hi all, I got to know that you can convert a civic eg8 rear drum brake to a disc brake... Any experience???? Have anyone in this group have tried it??? What are the pro's and con's???
Komisiripala
you need to find the rear trailing arms of an integra GSR, or a civic Si/SIR. goes for around 25,000 i think. check with US auto parts on hill street, and car smile auto on attidiya, they generally have honda parts like these up for sale. if you have the time walk around delkanda, go to places like Maruichi Auto and take a look. i think the EK trailing arms will not work for your car. if you need the brake rotors only, i can give you the ones that came off my integra, PM me if you need. pros: less brake bind, less brake heating, brakes won't clog up badly when waterlogged. cons: none that i can think of. but remember, as the Don once told me, a drum of equal diameter has the same brake force as a disc. so you're not really gonna see a massive increase in brake force. but of course they make the car look patta cool. i think that's one of your biggest concerns also, no? shanX
^ cons: i have heard they're slightly heavy compared to drums, not a tradeoff compared to the braking improvement and the coolness factor You have to replace both rear wheel hubs that come along with trailing arms. EK ones are also usable, EK lower control arms are different though.
