sharky
Hey guys, Just wondering if any of you have gotten stuff down like lcd monitors, tvs from ebay/amazon. If so how is the duty for these things? I got my eye on this http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-QNIX-QX2710-LED-Evolution-2-27-Samsung-PLS-WQHD-Monitor-Tempered-Glass-/121089977041?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item1c31866ad1 Any idea on the tax on these? Thanks in advance
Watchman
Dude, that's not exactly a bargain and its some random brand. Not worth the risk/uncertainty in my opinion. Buy it locally, you'll save all the customs/tax hassle but more importantly, should something go wrong a local shop is easier to contact for warranty claims than some online shop in Korea. Komisiripala
Plus freight. That must weigh. And is fragile! There's no tax on electronic items in sl now. Just get it locally
ramishkad
As everyone has said, get a Samsung branded monitor locally. Prices are not much different from international standards and Samsung after sales service is really good. My 27" Samsung had a black screen problem and they fixed it for me within 10 days. sharky
Thanks for the replies, actually I know you can get the 27inch 1080p locally for less than 40000 but the one I mentioned is the newer 4K ultrahd 2560x1440 plus the panel is a samsung. The closest I can get locally (AFAIK) with those specs is the Apple displays and they are over 1 lakh! Oh well....
Watchman
Well, it also depends on what you plan to use it for. If it's just for bragging rights, then you might as well just go ahead n buy it. Do you genuinely have large display needs which can't be fulfilled by the freely available 23" screen? I've noticed that as soon as you jump from 23" to 24" the price difference is quite steep. Pericles
If you want to take the risk, you can try Kapruka, and get a good brand one.
Hoonigan
Peri is right, if you're going through with it, Kapruka is your best bet. And they will tell you what it will end up costing you (shipping, duties) before you place the order. Only hitch is that they take quite a long time to deliver. You can request a quote online so takes little to no effort to get an idea at least.

Thanks for the replies guys, its just my ebay addiction thing going on I guess! Love getting gizmos in the post and I thought this looked like a good deal - albeit a little risky.... Anyways I think I might go after the Kapruka route.
The Stig
As for the tax its 5% PAL 2% NBT for monitors below 32" For sizes above 32" a 12% VAT is added in addition to the above 2 think, not entirely sure on this though. These guys have a tendency to cheat when it comes to calculating taxes, do the math your self and see if they tally. BTW whats your VGA ? if you are planning to game on this you better have at least something like a R9-280x or it wont make any sense
