Yes, I faced the same issue.

As I heard, this is a common issue with EKs. Check on your taillight gaskets & remove the rubber beading of the trunk and see whether there are any holes made due to rust. Also, check the trunk lid's alignment and if you have a power antenna, check it also.

Also check what angle you parked in rain (if you did) or drove in rain. If your parked or drove in hill with about 30 - 40 degree angle, there is a tendancy water to get in to your trunk. I noticed it with my EK3 and 121 also.

Check your taillight gaskets for leaks, run a hose through lights and check from behind the trunk, and also put the trunk beading in reverse(inside to outside),If it solves the issue its the beading...

COMMON ISSUE - This is the first time that I am hearing about this.

As I heard... if you do a search in google, you can find loads of links saying that...

A few years back I noticed a water leak to the trunk in my ek3, removed all the inner panels and checked; there is a plastic knob which is connected with the bumper on both left and right sides. In my case water is leaking from that knob, then fixed it with silicon gel and problem solved.

And again since 3 months I noticed water in the trunk, this time it is from the left trunk tail lights gasket. Used the silicon gel and problem solved.

Since silicon contains acidic substance isn't applying silicon to the body of car make things worse??

My tinkering guy said, it accelerates rusting, so he said to use no-leak gasket mask(non acidic).
