Harrier Hybrid 2014 Tax

Hi friends, Could you please any one can help me to get an idea about tax for importing Toyota Harrier hybride 2014 (Elegence) model.

In car sales the harrier hybrid costs you more than 10 million. Not sure about the tax but I bet its around 2 million.

They tax you depending on the engine capacity I guess, recently I imported a honda vezel with the engine capacity 1.5 cc and they taxed me 18.5 lakhs.

Harrier has a 2.5 I guess so they will definitely tax you more than 2 million. By the way I would advice you to wait till they announce the new budget taxes, dont know what will happen.

Also I was told by a car seller that you can important it personally which reduces the cost (according to him can get it for around 98 lakhs).

I would guess that the FOB value is around 3-3.5 million JPY as brand new the harrier hybrid costs about 3.75 mil yen in Japan.

Since it's a 2500cc engine the tax rate would be 100%.

On a side note you would have to pay Semi Luxury Tax as well since the engine capacity is higher than 1800cc.

There are about 5 hybrid models but all with same chassis number, thus same tax value. I was told tax was around 4.4Mn and could come down to about 3.4Mn if you have a tax payers permit. But please verify from a clearing agent. Tax amount is dependant on the exchange rates as well.

Elegance Duty = 40.77 lakhs at 1.23 yen rate and 100% Duty. ( Duty = 33.25 lakhs in yen x yen rate x 100% )

CIF LKR= 55 lakhs

Total = 95 lakhs
