Goro
I saw similar threads but all of them are outdated and doesn't match current market price. So I was considering following options, 1. Honda Civic Hybrid (FD3) 2009 or later 2. Lancer EX 2008 or later 3. Mazda 3/Axela (BL) 2009/2010 4. Hyundai Elantra 2011 Are there any better options available for this price range if I'm buying a vehicle with a model year 2008 or later? I'm not much in to Toyota , that's why I didn't include Axio, but I'm open for suggestions. Fuel efficiency is a major concern and also looking for a stylish design. Thanks in advance. Jor-el
OT : I searched for the above cars in some online advert sites, where have all the Lancer ex cars gone? I couldnt even find atleast 5 of them for sale... OP, both Civic and lancer ex looks quite stylish and other two ain't bad either. Very tough choice. If FE is a major concern you might have to consider buying civic hybrid. Just my 2c

Rarely get posted any of them online. Not sure why.
sathyajithj99
Maybe we should ask Bracket if he is selling his EX A.K.A BRATT. Too bad there is no way to contact him. Edited February 22, 2015 by sathyajithj99
Jor-el
There are 2 2008 EXes advertised, only one in this price bracket, the other one asks for 36k. But like I said if FE is the key factor here civic hybrid is the way to go.

Yes, that's what I'm worried about. Different people say different figures. I'm ok with 12kpl in city as long as it does good on long distances. I'm still not sure if it really does well on long distances. If anyone can reveal some realistic figures , it's highly appreciated. When i come from Kandy to Colombo it does around 20-21kmpl. When going from Colombo-Kandy (with Kadugannawa climb), it does 17-18. Speeds are usually between 60-80kmph for these journeys. And on highways it does around 21-24 at 100kmph. Make sure the hybrid battery is in good condition. If you are buying a one with a bad battery, get it for around 2.7 mil and buy a new battery. The car would run as good as new.

And how much does it cost to replace a new battery? Japanese battery from Stafford - around 7-8lakhs Jap battery from other parties - around 5-6 lakhs Chinese battery - 2.95-3.75 lakhs You can also check with Stafford to get a battery under Honda warranty (civic hybrids come with 8 year or 150000 mile warranty from Honda as i remember) if the vehicle is a JDM model. If this works you'd only have to pay a freight charge of 175000 or so. Edited February 23, 2015 by ramishkad
Knight
I'm in same boat as OP except FE is not a major concern. Still I would expect 8km/l. Stuck between Civic FD1 and Grand Vitara, both 2008 or later. OP I'd suggest Civic FD3 or FD4. Then again I'm biased towards Civics

Knight
FD1 vs Grand Vitara , hard decision btw, Is FD4 good on fuel?Hard decision indeed I hear there's not much of a difference on fuel consumption between FD1 & FD4.
