Need A Good Tinker For Daihutsu Charment

Hi guys,

I have a 1984 Diahutsu Charnent ( being in the family for almost 20 years)

Which needs a good total repair, both exterior & interior.

Body parts for this car is very rare,

Engine is still in very good running condition.

I would be much obliged if you guys could suggest some good garages for a total repair for this car, and also your opinin on spending on it.

( I'm not planing to sell the car, would love to use it again in its original condition)

Welcome to the forum!

Please do a search on the forum following the instructions given here. Finding a good tinkerer is proven to a be a very difficult thing. Where do you live?

It's a car you've had with you for twenty years! You don't need anyone else's opinion to decide if you should spend on it or not. The car should pretty much be a member of the family by now.

I can put you in touch with the second tinker who worked on my car if you are interested. I don't have a very good frame of reference to judge his work as 'excellent' (first car getting tinkered) but I'm really happy with his skills.

Spending on it, as Davy mentioned, makes more sentimental sense than financial sense. This, you have to decide on your own.

Thanks Davy and Hoonigan.

Yes it's a part of our family and carries a lot of memories.

I live in Maharagama.

I have spoken to Mr. Dumi##a (body kit.lk)

And he wishes to see the vehicle.

No personal experience with Dum!nda, but his work is good as far as I've heard and prices are bit on the high side. Just make sure you don't let him turn that car into a fiberglass freak show.

Perhaps not the best person for a restoration as he is more of a fabrication/ modification type of specialist.

Get a quote and let us know. They is to get metal work done properly. I know another buy in Kalubowila. Not the cheapest but is quite good (at least from what he's done on one of my cars up to now). But very busy so might have to wait a bit before he can take your car on.

Is Hokandara convenient for you?
