Vehicle Importing - Individual

Hi friends,

I am planning to import Nissan Leaf & my friend can arrange this from Japan. With new regulations, can I import this as individual (on my name)?

As far as I know personal imports have not been banned.

For the process search the forum and for more specific information contact the Sri Lanka customs or the department of import and export.

Personally imported vehicles should be registered in the importers name.

The license for the vehicle importers haven't come into practice yet

Well how about that deposit that the Gov introduced for motor vehicle importers is it still in force or not implemented?

If a person is importing individually can he save a lot of money on a car say Leaf or Aqua?
