Kia Rio Or Hyundai Gets For Starlet 96

i have a toyota starlet 1996 and i hope to sell it buy a new one. I am interested with kia rio and hyundai. The main reason is i need a relatively new car (as 2005 ) rather than using 90 decades car. I know most people says japanees cars far better. But i like to use relatively new car and my budget is less than 1.8M. pls tell me what is the best choice for me.

I saw a CS1 for 2.0M on the "quick" site a few days back, slightly higher than your budget, but if you can extend it there are many more options if you want a relatively new car.

Hondai Civic (ES1/ES5 and ES8) and Nissan Sunny (FB15/N16) are valued from 2.0M to 2.3M. Nissan Ad Wagon (2003+) are valued at 1.6M.

Mazda BJ5W, BJ3P and BJ5P will fall within your budget. You might also be able to squeeze an older Chevrolet Cruze or a Perodua Viva in to your budget as well (they are priced at around 2.0M).

EDIT: Korean cars are not all that bad after all, if you don't plan on using them as a daily runner (although I know a few who use older Korean cars as daily runners), you just have to learn to live with one and get used to the maintenance and slight difficulty in re-selling.

Don't listen to most people unless they have proper evidence to back it up. I know a person who drives an Ad Wagon (YOM around 2000-2002 I think). He says the car is somewhat low on fuel (8-9 city limits), but due to the fact that its a heavy car and also being an automatic, that's pretty reasonable. Even most of the sedans in the same class will have similar figures. According to him, the vehicle is easy to maintain with parts being readily available and has a higher market / better comfort than the original wagon which was meant for carrying goods.

Also have a look at the Mazda's available within your budget.

You want an auto? Welll that limits your options... there are many manual CS1s around for your budget.

Try 2001-2002 Mazda BJ3/BJ5

You can get a 2005-2006 Cerato for 1.8 mill.

Might be difficult to find but they are good looking cars. They do around 8-9kmpl in the city

If you are buying a Hyundai or a Kia, always go for a brand new imported one. That's my advice. All the recon cars came from Singapore and they were used as taxis there.

Anyone can quote any price. But that doesn't mean it will be sold at that amount. Take a good inspection of the car and tell him to get you a valuation from Godwin Yapa (NOT de Silva). Then offer him 2 million. 2008 one is worth about 2 mill. The newer model (2010 onwards) will go for 3+. 2005/2006 is worth about 1.8 mill.

Off topic but asking cos just curious : why not de Silva? I am asking since I felt they are a bit random with their valuations.

You seem to have a major problem with De Silva and it's related operations. I remember you insisting that people don't use carchecks either. What caused this problem, bad experience? I ask because I have generally had no issues with them.
