Planning to buy a decent car below 3mn. Driving close to 80km daily. I know its really bad timing to buy a car. But does this car make sense for 2.7m? Anybody who has xp owning one

80km daily is a fair distance. If you are looking for fuel economy, Wagon R hybrid would be an option. Otherwise I would advise you to look for a used Diesel car. Picanto is a nice looking car but I'm not sure whether it has anything special to offer for that price.

Im okay with something that does at least 10km/l. Wagon R is nice but dont know if that 660cc engines got oomph. Problem with second hand vehicles is that the prices are so bloated right now dont think theres much to consider. Any good models that comes to mind?

according to Kia Lanka, the starting price for Picanto is 2.47 Mil. so you should be able to get a manual standard option car for that amount. Considering other brand new options like Eon or Maruti, I think it's better as it offers ABS, Airbags, 4/5 star safety ratings and some other options like stability control, traction control, eco drive etc.

for an amount like 2.8, you get few other car options like the Suzuki wagon r, Hustler, Perodua Axia, and Daihatsu mira. all of them should be reliable machines with decent fuel figure except that wagon r and Hustler has 660cc engine which sometimes are annoying to drive if you have driven cars with bigger engines. so all depend on your personal taste.

Under so much frustration over this government's constant incompetence. The constant change in duty rates have returned us to the era of vehicle's becoming appreciating assets. Was going through some classifieds & its hilarious have some of the used car prices have jacked up. 141s/FDs 3m -> 3.7m+. Swift ZC71s style package which I once bargained 6 years back for 2.6m now goes for 3.2m. Heck I sold my 2010 GE6 a year ago for 2.5m now cant even find one for 3m. Extremely sorry for the bickering but I needed to let out some steam.

On the decision to be made, I might settle for a picanto given the other options. Its bit of a cramped xp from what I'm used to but the fit & finish is quite nice compared to the others. Plus its a 1000cc engine. KIA lanka also provides a good 100,000km warranty but how good they'd honor it yet to be seen. Only thought bothering me right now whether it would make better sense to buy an older car like maybe an old euro, one of those fiat puntos or even a good ole jap like a galant/Ti carina. Hmmm choices choices...

Love the Picanto for its style and size like an old mini but at the expense of rear seat leg room!

Shud be able to grab a registered 2012 full option for 2.5m??

Lately I noticed alot of brand new Picantos on road!

I called Kia yesterday and according to the lady who answered, the manual version which was priced at 2.45 Mil has finished stocks and she didn't know when they'll get more stocks. she also said that when they get a new shipment the price will be increased as per tax change. the auto version starts from 2.7 Mil for standard options. couldn't ask for the differences between standard and full options.
