Premio 2007 AC Not working above 80 kmh

AC seems to be fine while the car is on idle and up to 80-85kmh. As the speed increases the cool starts decreasing and finally only the blower air remains. Is this related to speed or high rev ??

While speed decreases what happens? Cooling start increasing or you have to manually switch off and switch on again? 

Any previous repair done related to AC system?

Hi

As speed decreases cooling starts to increase as normal automatically. AC compressor have been repaired/replaced by previous owner. Anyway no details about it.

Check whether the compressor is the correct type for your car. It should be a variable load compressor (Denso) I believe. Can you hear click sound when compressor engage/disengage?

Like hrm said check the compressor, it should be a clutch-less variable displacement compressor. Allion/Premio 260 compressors tend to fail rather quickly, when this happens some cheap ass owners gets a clutch driven 121 or 240 compressor, by-pass the electronics, modifies the brackets and fix it in there, these will not run efficiently as the original and will develop these kind of problems.

Agreed with @asrock regarding the replacing with clutch driven type. 

But, how this particular case (cooling reduced while increasing speed/rpm and working well on low speed/rpm) could explain with  this scenario?

Lets do a simple test. 

Park the car under direct sunlight (12 noon) for 10 min. Start the car and wait sometime idling to cool the cabin. Then rev the engine up to 2500-3000 rpm and keep for some time and see the condition of cooling. Then you could clear whether this is related to speed or rpm.

Read the 2nd post of this thread its a different car but same scenario, all points to a bad compressor. Anyway my advice is to go to a good AC mechanic, he would be able to pin point the issue.

compressor seems to be a variable compressor. Will rev the car to 2500-3000rpm and will let you know the results.
