Wheel alignment problem

firstgear

Question

Hi guys,

Vehicle: viva Elite

problem: recently I replaced my right hand side front wheel knuckle at Unimo. This was done by then due to a break noise. After this change I realized that tyre started to wear from outside edge.

This resulted in having to change all four tyres. And did a wheel balancing and alignment at CC.

Even after that I notice that particular side tyre is starting to wear from the edge. In the attached image you can see the needle like things have disappeared from one tyre and remaining on the other. When I went to CC to complain they asked me to come after 500km.

I need your your suggestions on this.

Thank you.

This adjustment cannot be adjusted by a simple wheel alignment . why dont you take your car to unimo again and tell them about this problem since it came after they changed the knuckle. maybe someone messed up something during the repair

If it happened after replacement of wheel knuckle then all you need  is a simple wheel alignment but certainly not at a place where you have those bozos (who doesn't have any idea of simple geometry) staring at a computer screen. I am a bit surprised why the agent ignored to do the alignment after knuckle replacement. In fact you should have complained to them at that time cos it was their duty to check for proper alignment once they meddled with suspension parts.

What are these needle like things?

In tire manufacturing process , when polymer mixture enter in to the mould it has to deair. (The air inside the mould has to move out with minimum entering  of polymer mix to tiny de-airing tunnels). Hence these small rubber needles are useless excess rubber came out from tire and not better idea to measure the tire wearing 100% . Simply these needle like rubber particles may worn out in different way how they touch with the road.

Additionally you better to check the depth of grooves in suspected area for better understanding.

Then if you feel tire wearing is uneven, take the vehicle to Unit#d Mot#rs-Orugodawatta and and show them and also do wheel alignment there.

And as far as In know, when UM replaced a part by them, there is a warranty for six months. Check the replaced part and still the problem may with some other part.
