harshansenadhir
Nice thread for a stock car driver on the daily traffic .. never had a chance to legal race nor drag but born with a speed mania .. well thats me .. any way as I believe speeding would be low risk and effortless when you have the best combination out of following factors. Good BHP on the drive wheels, good road holding car (heavy weight if you're talking abt SL road with small humps 'n bumps in each few meters) and of course a good driver who keeps up regardless of the vehicle. Ok here I go .. * I've been in Mitsubishi J24? (famous Jeep model) since my early childhood and i can remember the driver was hitting the 140kmph which means the top of that vehi. and needless to mention the sounds made by the tent which was severly waving over the crosswind and it was between Giradurukotte and Mahiangana if my memory serves correct (vehicle belong to Mahaweli authority and was on an official(?) tour with my father) * even before obtaining the driving license (in 1997) i used to drive then our family vehi's a Townace CR26 and CR27 on galle rd betwen Moratuwa & Panadura arnd 110kmph this was usual and with O/D it was amazing to speed that vhiecle. handled well and I had all the family members in the back seat (only one seat was there) and father on the passenger * in 1996 Jan (again before obtaining lisence) did the first trip to kataragama on my uncle's then new Toyota Hiace LH102 (2L Engine/non turbo) with stock tyres and with original single back seat and 3 passengers in between Thissamaharama and Kataragama 123kmph (i'm sure it didn't hit 125) coz that was what i trying to. Then i felt the rear of the van goin out of control waving like (reason may be the crosswind) and released the pedal. * Recently usually doin 110-120 on my converted diesel 504 along baseline (borella-narahenpita , borella - dematagoda) and also along Negombo rd. * Did 140 (may be 140+ but i couldn't keep eye glued to the speedometer ) on my friends Peugeot 504 1979 GL 2.0 twin carb (between athurugiriya - hokandara junc along athurugiriya-malambe rd) * Did 100 on my ford escort mk1 1300CC between athurugiriya - godagama and had a very hard time reducing the speed with basic single circuit hydraulic drum breaks. - Harshan Senadhira 1974 Peugeot 504 1983 Peugeot
