we have talked about civic a million times in the forum <_< but i can give u a few answers

--

Q:types (DOHC, SOHC, VTEC-E, 1 stage, 2 stage ect..)

A:holly grandmother! never heard of a 1 stage VTEC, but as you said there is ...

VTEC-E: solely for economy

DOHC: good for performance but expensive

SOHC 2stage: the one u find in the normal VTEC sedan, give s good balance between performance (moderate) nd fuel econo.

SOHC 3stage: what u get in RS. itz combination of VTEC-E + SOHC 2stage

i-VTEC: Avaialable in the latest generation honda's, this is where Honda try to merge itz cam changing VTEC system with a continuously CAM phasing valve timing system. so the benefit is smooth delivery of power than in discrete 2 or 3 stage technology.

--

Q: Wht r the gd types howz da fuel consumptions

A: theoratically VTEC-E, but u might as well go for 2 stage VTEC(EFI model)

--

Q:maintenence cost every thing & any thing

A: Honda engines are very durable but for running repairs it can be a bit expensive. (depending on where u buy parts etc)

Hi Sajith

This is just a personal opinion, but If you are looking for a balance between performance/economy,and if you don't have your heart set on a VTEC.... you might do well to give the dual carb MX model a try as well...... on paper it might be a bit down on power compared to the VTEC, but speaking from experience, on the road, it certainly doesn't feel it!!! also if you've tuned it properly, you can get around 11km/L.... even driving it hard..... :D

Cheers

Wel Supra Naural..thx buddy. Are dual carbs doing 11km/L???

recently my friend brought an Single carb EG8(19- 95 black ferio) from Gaya Alawaththa. He also getting more than 10kmL. But still my poor grand civic is doing ar 9km/L eventhough it's not much traffic here in Gampaha :(

I think If i can lucky enough to set my budget ar 1.1m better going for VTEC..otherwise better to think about dual carb MX. Wht do u think???

Yeah Machan.... If it's properly tuned a Dual Carb will do 11 Even if you're driving it hard...... yes if you are really going after a VTEC, and you can spend for it (Prices ARE pretty high now) go for it.... but you should drive an MX first.... a well kept one might suprise you! the thing with the MX is the low down response to the throttle...... the VTEC is a Lovely car, but you have to Rev it to get the performance properly..... the MX pulls from almost no revs...... well, at least the car my friend has (1992, Stock Engine) does!!!

Cheers

hmmm no not really stock vtec's are fine on the low end. Carbs maybe not. And for those who think 92-00 SOHC Vtec's are REALLY good on fuel- Got news for you- for 'em to be good on fuel either the car will have to be driven outstation a lot or the owner does not engage vtec at all :(

oh?? sorry machan, my experience of Eg8's has been solely carb models...... can't claim to have first hand knowledge of a VTEC car....... merely passing on info that a friend who has driven both gave me....... apologies.......
