And how do you suggest you connect your laptop to your ECU?

And how much is the interface and program going to cost? It definetly won't be free.

Considering you have to buy all that I say it'll be cheaper going to the agents, or and expert who already has the stuff.

You need a Consult II or OBD II Data Cable in order to use the software....

This is very cheap. actually 500/= bugs is enoughf for this. hi hi heeee.

If u go to the agents can u play arround with ur car. hi hi heee u cant.

I like to play with my car using this software and using my electronic knowledge.

But if something goes wrong with ECU unit I hope to go to the A MW.

Er actually guys there are freeware versions for OBD-2 that run on linux available. However getting your hands on the DB 16 connector required to plug into the Jap OBD socket is difficult. When I had my HXXda earlier tried hunting for the connector in Singapore but couldn't find it. The other option would be to use pin probes to plug into the obd socket but this is not advisable in case the contacts touch and short something out.

The other option would be to buy a pre-made cable but once again bear in mind that the jap cars use a particular type of socket, the euro's use a totally different socket, even of the basic obd2 protocol is the same. There are also some nifty software + cable packages that plug into your pocket pc's (HP Ipaqs...etc) for about Rs. 25 k which also function on the move. Not difficult to find them on the net.

There is a similar software to Nissan Datascan, its called ecutalk. It initially was just a home project this guy in sydney was doing, ended up to be a success. check it out at http://www.ecutalk.com/

In regards to the interface cable, u can either get hold of a serial or usb cable, obviously usb is expensive when compared to the serial. Here in Melbourne it will cost around the $125 mark (about LKR 12000).

I have the usb cable along with Datascan. I have to say the software is amazing. Saves you alot of cash. If any of u guys need to purchase the cable, shoot me a pm.
