Azula9713
I just want to know if Police can write me a ticket for having gauges on my dashboard. (I have 3 greddy gauges for some info). With this ongoing investigations against modifications, how would that affect me? Any opinion is welcome. TY
Hyaenidae
Not if it's integrated to the dashboard But if it sticks out like a sore thumb then maybe. So far as I've seen cars are mostly being booked for having loud exhausts and ridiculous bodykits so you'll likely be fine, but if they pull you over for something else they might notice it. But it's not obstructing the view (at least according to my knowledge). On a different note where did you get that Guage holder done? @Hyaenidae

But you can get it from Aliexpress

View obstruction is somewhat of a grey area in most parts of the world. In Sri Lanka, unfortunately, you will be at the mercy of the cop's intellectual level and mood. In Japan and the US, the regulation addresses a region of the windscreen. Basically, you cannot put anything on the windscreen that intrudes or obstructs the view out of this region (typically defined upto X% from top, Y% from bottom and Z% from the sides, top and side ones being the most significant). I believe SL has the same. So anything on the windscreen that extends beyond this region needs to be take off. What gets put on the dashboard on the other hand is quite subjective. Now in countries like Japan (and the US) vehicles are annually/bi-annually inspected by professionals. If the view is not obstructed and airbag deployment is not hindered or made dangerous by whatever is on the dashboard everything is fine. Only hitch is in in SL this would be judged by a cop who has no experience to make such a judgement call (I doubt most of these cops actually have experience driving a car). So as @Hyaenidae mentioned...as long as it looks uncrowded you should be okay. So sticking on top should be okay as long as it is properly spaced and mounted. But in SL you never know. 9 hours ago, Azula9713 said: On a different note where did you get that Guage holder done? If there is a passenger-side airbag, then these types of integrated bezels won't work.

Not in case of the Lancer at least because the passenger airbag deploys on top of the dashboard, if it was behind this panel it'd fly towards the passengers face ne Edited January 8 by Hyaenidae

So it would be a shaken failure. The idea is that when the airbag deploys there is no certainty how it would deploy and what the surrounding circumstances are. There is no certainty if the bezel would be loosened up during impact making itself a projectile. Also there is the concern that who ever installs this may not have installed it properly. Only way they would install this is if the airbag is removed (which makes it for race purposes only because removal of the airbag on a road car would be a shaken failure). Do people in Japan do these modifications ? When they take it for a shaken inspection they just uninstall everything; and put everything back on after the inspection Edited January 9 by iRage
