Looking for a Reliable Car (Budget: 3–4 Million LKR)

Question

Posted

Hi all,
I’m looking to buy a reliable car within the 3-4 million LKR range. Preferably something slightly newer-looking (not too old in design), with good fuel economy and reasonable maintenance costs. Open to suggestions/recommendations on models that fit this budget.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you! I've been hearing about the Viva Elite alot, personally I'm not a big fan of how the car looks for some reason haha, what do you think of the other options I have?

Thank you in advance!

The car market is a joke now. Prices have gone up steeply in the last few weeks particularly in the sub 6-Million budget since the cheapest unregistered cars cost above 6.5 million (the altos and miras) as a result Viva Elites are quoted at close to 4.5 million.

Very little sadly, and your requirement on something newer-looking might be challenging.

what are you looking for ? Hatch? Sedan? Station Wagon ? Can suggest models once you've narrowed down.

So basically - very few good choices for that budget. The Indian Alto's are an obvious choice if you're looking for something made in the last decade and a half. Otherwise you're looking at the turn of the century. The more well known models have ridiculous asking prices. Models like the Toyota Soluna and the Honda City 3rd gen would be possible around 3.5 maybe a Wingroad/AD wagon -all these would be from the early 2000s.

IF you're ok with manual gears, then the doors open up a bit - manuals are getting hard to sell nowadays specially for models that have a corresponding auto counterpart. So are diesels.
