Latest Edited Pics Of The Mutt

So, I just played around with some of the older pics. I had from a while back. Ofcourse, my positioning of the car wasn't good so the shadows get in the way ... I've been told that many times and hopefully I'll know better next time *doh* ... too cold outside to take better pics. Also, the car sits much lower than this now 'cos the new suspension setup went in after these pics. were taken.

if you don't mind me asking, whats the story behind the nickname?

...all that comes to mind when i hear "Mutt" is mangy quadruped or the "Mutt & Jeff" comics

nevermind the shadow, the car looks brutal :) R.E.S.P.E.C.T

Lol ... The story of "The Mutt" ... or as people say "it's Mutt-iculous!!!" lol

Started off life as a '94 Camaro Z28 with a LT1/Auto drivetrain but now all that's left is the body and everything's been rebuilt/replaced/updated and swapped with a 6.0ltr LS1/T56 manual tranny with parts from many different models/years ... hard to keep track so it's lovingly named "The Mutt"

Been doing some hard work on the angles, eh? Not sure what you mean by shadows get in the way. If you mean you think you should have had the sun behind you, the won't work that well with cars, coz the sun will reflect off the metal and you'll have great big flares on spots. Can't have the sun behind either, coz back lit will cause ur foreground subject (the car) to be dark. Unless you want that effect, like when I tried this.

Try a couple of low angles, with the cam close to the ground.

those are good pics machan...especially the more close-up ones... don't really like the long shots the shadow generated by the car is a lil too strong for me :)

the first shot IMHO is the best but there's something with the wall separating the pic 1/3 of it's height into a clear blue sky...

i have worked with local pro shooters on cars and man they are a bitch to photograph... each every little angle difference have a huge affect on how the lines of the car is displayed... then comes the lenses...camera settings...photoshopping etc etc

and taking the whole thing outdoors with conditions not at your control just takes the game to another level :)

I work on a Italian car brand here in SL and we prefer not to shoot in SL due to the lack of professional car shooters :( always get pics from other countries <_<

shooting indoors with skimmers is much easier when compared to outdoor shoots but you can't beat what natural environment adds on to the pic IMHO... And there isn't a single studio to my knowledge in SL that can take a car in or have skimmers with them :(

Onto motoring...

like all others have said before...RESPECT man... great looking car... and a 6litre powerplant :jumping-smiley-013:

I say, don't suppose you could have me tag along when you do this kinda thing? I'd like to learn from a pro.

I have found a guy on flickr who is a professional photog. He's also done something for Jag in SL on the X-Types, that set is on flickr. Interesting stuff.

Not a problem but not all shoots are interesting sadly  And car shoots are very rare in SL :(

I shot some about 2 years ago when we re-launched a certain auto insurance brand...the bad weather messed up most of the shots :(

I mostly work with Laxman Nadaraja and now have started shooting people with Dimithri Cruz cos the bugger is good with amateur models

Shot Lasith Malinga for a certain mobile company which was a very interesting shoot with lasith bowling into the camera and we were barely 2-3 feet away from his cannon ball deliveries

Dominic is also a great guy to work with :) he mostly if not almost always shoot on available light

Another interesting one is the relatively new entrant, Alefiya Akberally....the only pro female photographer i know in SL :)

btw the Jaguars are great cars on pics cos the hood lines show up really nice on pics...shot a S type in galle face hotel car park once...shot on transparencies though and the colors were just brilliant... Digi's are still behind film when it comes to richness of the final result imho

If your friend at flicker is into commercial photography...chances are i might have heard of him or even worked with him :)

The guy was a Sandun De Silva. Just met online. Done quite a bit on the Ford Model contest too.

I'll second that about Mr. Cruz. He did my cuz's wedding, dude has style and imagination.

I didn't know this Akberally was a female. That explains how she gets the near Maxim shots for Machang. I actually found it hard to imagine models being comfortable to be so daring with a guy

depends on the model machang :) Most top shot fashion photographers are males and fully pro foreign models i have worked with (only twice so far :( ) and certain local ones don't have that much of an issue in going all guns blazing

But i suppose ladies do feel better with female behind the camera than a man :)

Highly curious as to how a female photographer "turns on" a female model like a man would do cos male fashion snappers are very good charmers with endless supply of compliments for the blushing ladies :)

  • 4 weeks later...

sorry for taking so long to reply ... forgot about this thread

Devinda summed it up best MeanGreen... R.E.S.P.E.C.T!!

it looks superb machan..... If i may ask, what kind of numbers is it putting out?

puts down 401HP/380TQ approx to the rear wheels on our dyno and that's with a really restrictive exhaust, it's since been opened up, but I've had no time to strap it down. I'm expecting something like 425RWHP for now ... I'm pretty happy 'cos that means I'm producing somewhere like 475-500 at the crank.

Wow.. Sleek... any way we could have alook under the Hood??

And a +1 for Dimitri on photography, Dude did my wedding (pictures and video) and did one heck of a job !!!
