Most probably this data is valid only for UK Mini Engines and not for Japanese imports...

If you have the engine tag still attached to the engine - just in front/below the thermostat housing - or perhaps the original engine number in the log book then the following should help you determine which engine you have. For Metro units, see 'Engine - Metro identification data'.

Original engine identification numbers

Actually the information is valid for the Japanese import cars as well, because they were originally manufactured in the UK anyway. They usually have a few modifications done prior to sale in Japan, such as having Air Conditioning units and new dashboards fitted and also changes to the fuel system to meet the Jap emissions control regulations.

But the engine and chassis numbers do not change.
