around 2.8 including 15 % vat. Get hold of one soon because goverment is going to stop the importation of singles cab under lorry duty which means it will soon be costing around 6 mil up. still rumors but not sure.

Who was the guy who took you in off road. He must have sucked at off roading.

You need not go on low just to get out of mud, sometimes the momentum will move you out of sticky situations. Well yes the wrangler has a big engine but you go to Waters Edge on Sunday and see what happens to all those big engined vehicles.

A big engine doesnt necessarily mean more power, a chipped Td5 engine can produce more than 200bhp (its a 2.5l turbo diesel) so what comparison are you making on that assumption.

Big engines help you attain a higher top end or to get you off the mark very quickly, but it doesnt mean you can come out of sticky situations.

I also noticed something interesting,

That Odyssey expedition Velocity mentions uses old Discovery 2's not the highly acclaimed Discovery 3's. I guess there is life in the old work hoses yet.

The reason I say this is The Discovery's are not that fancied here in the UK as well. You can get a discovery TD5 with all the works for much less than a Defender TD5 basic ! I'm just a bit curious as to the choice of vehicle !

I also noticed the list of accessories fitted on to these vehicles, and probably a helpful list to consider when preparing any vehicle for serious off roading !

saw it today in the morning...they were entering china and man the roads they go in is just freaking unbelievable.

and thanks machang for that link...pretty good reading material and some cool tips etc.

Thinking of ditching the car for a hilux or summin

The irony of it is that ideally you would like to have both (The Hilux and the Sprinter) ! but sadly in SL you need to be a multi billionaire to be able to do that !

I mean the Hilux is a wonderful vehicle, but its also a back breaker in our wonderful pot hole filled roads ! Using a double cab on a daily basis is a somewhat different experience than using a car as my father found out, when he used to have one given by his old company !!! (This was an Isuzu though, but I've ridden in hiluxes and even the modern L200 and the experience is still the same, the back leaf springs are made to bear weight which makes the whole vehicle quite bumpy without much weight !!!) He much preferred a old Peugeot 504 his office occasionally lend to him !

right on the money...anyways no green light from missus to go for a cab cos shockingly she also knows a bit about the suspension thing :P

I'll be upgrading within 2 years max but sadly it'll be a better car or an SUV...

The old 4x4 thing can be a distant project :( unless of course i get a fricking insane increment

For the price even an old LN106 is going these days you can afford the sprinter and a 4DR5 or maybe even a BJ40 (ok this needs some luck !!)

The Toyota double cabs are way over valued. A well maintained Isuzu might be a good alternative (cos Nissan and Mitsubishi aren't that cheaper !)

yep. cos one of my mates had a isuzu single cab... not too sure if it was a 4x4 but he used to haul his trail riding bikes on that thing all over the countryside. It's loud like an old lorry :) but supposedly pulls through any bloody thing...

the thing with jeeps is also machang that with the present craze on 4x4's...their prices have also shot up...

unless i work towards a decent base jeep and slowly do the mods like a long term project :P

love the looks of the old single cab landies too but i'm sure they are pretty tough to find
