Which model year vehicles are you referring to?

I'd prefer the X-Trail if your looking at older models.

Freelander if the new model.

Not the Pajero in any case

Well, for arguments sake, 2000/2001 for all the models.

id say stick to the x trail as well...fuel efficiency wise i think the freelander would win against but overall maintainace wise x trail would beat the other two..afaic earlyer version f/landies had transmission probs as well as few electrical problems..

what about the Mazda Tribute

1 ) Bigger

2 ) Better Price ( Not Overvalued )

3 ) Buy the V6 and you will have ample power

4 ) Good Ground Clearance with 4WD

My only Dislike on this is the Auto Gear Lever System. So buy a Manual.

Odd thing about Velo's pic is, it normally looks a lot better than that. IMHO, its the best looking of the soft-roaders. Looks wise, I prefer the Tribute to the X-trail, Freelander, CRV and any of the Koreans.

get the 2.5 litre x trail. They are brand new imports and most of them are manuals. I think they are 180bhp and will be a good used buy. The X trail GT's are also nice and quick but they come with a CVT box.

give your choices -> its the X trail for me too

Note: for the prices that the diesel Land Cruisers and Prado's go, i can only dream of a X trail ;) in reality too..

sorry for going OT but thought of adding my two cents on kim's comments

i really don't see the point in going for a diesel if you are not a running long distances. might as well buy a petrol variant and use the left over money of the diesel variant to open a FD and use the interest to offset the fuel prce advantage.
