Yo guys,

How is the total overview of th car, any experiences, Will it be a good choice if i was some laymen looking for a car.

Hi

your post is not clear as to what ou want from others in the forum

are you looking to buy it? whats the price that the owner is asking for ?

are the papers clean???,im sure you could get an engine in delkanda but better ask the resident Autolanka members coz they will know better on availability ,also if you sswap the engine for soemthing big then u also need to change the gearbox and it can get a bit messy, also is the engine totally unrepairable?

I own a Mitsubishi Mirage Coupe 1993 model and I think it is a fantastic car. Agile and controlled on the road with decent power. Mine is a 1500CC however.

Your car should easily be able to accommodate one of the following

4G15 1500cc engine

4G91 1500cc engine

4G92 1600cc engine (with Mivec)

4G93 1800cc engine

4G93T 1800cc engine (turbo charged)

4G63 2000cc engine (naturally aspirated or turbo charged same as in the Evos)

Note that the 1500CC engines should only require the engine wiring harness and ECU while the bigger engines might require you to upgrade the suspension, cooling system etc as well.

To be honest for the hatch back the 1300CC is more than adequate. How much is the chap quoting you for the car ?

Yo,

7 lakhs,

But the problem is , it is a 12 valvle SOHC 1300 and already gas a gas kit installed, So i believe there is not much that i can expect from the performance stand point. Couldn't check the body though, the paint looks ok and not sure of the suspension. 4 speed gearbox.

Are the engines you entioned above readily available , i called the Eurx-nip@@@ performance parts store and they did not have much of an idea about it.

does this come with a turbo charger - 4G15 1500cc engine

Hi,

Hmmmmmm, I am on the lookout for a car, but this is not what i had in mind, i just came across it and was a bit below the budget that i had in mind, What i though was to get the Car and then change the motor.

There is a gas kit installed and it is carrying a 80kg tank in the back, which is the first thing i am going to take off if i buy it, I just needed an opinion as to what i would have to come across.

I have had bad experiences with these type on engines,

I am not sure whether there is anything wrong with it, just curious as to whether i have other options

The 4G15 engine of that generation did not have a turbo option. I think there is a newer revision of that engine which does.

My suggestion is if you are going to upgrade the engine go for the 4G92 (1.6) 4G93 4G93T (1.8) or the 4G63 (2.0) naturally aspirated engine which comes in the Gallant I think, and keep the car in a front wheel drive setup. Having more than 180HP in a front wheel drive setup is a bit pointless as you would loose out on the handling as the car will torque steer like crazy. You can go all the way and try to put in a an all wheel drive system from the Evo, but be warned this is a complication conversion as the rear diff mounts etc need to be forged and matched and this is not an easy task to achieve not to mention the cost involved is horrendous.

Before you consider buying a car with the intention to do a conversion I think you should consider what else could you buy when you factor in the cost of the conversion. I mean a bit of mental arithmatic tells me you might be able to buy a 4G15/ 4G91 engined lancer or Mirage, with a bit more money a 4G92 engined mirage, a Civic EG8, CRX etc etc.

Also note the most common engines on Mitsubishi's are the 4G15 and the 4G13 so they are the easiest to find parts for and maintain. The other engines share a lot with these engines but with all things some bits you need to look hard to find (though they are nearly always there just need to look harder).

don are you looking to do a convertion job on your mirage?....should be a pretty interesting project eh....

by the way is there any AWD mirages in SL?

Well I was thinking about it many moons ago when I first got the car in 2004. I had even arranged for the stuff to be brought down with some help from a friend in Japan, but then I got this job over and been here since. So I have no plans to modify mine from stock spec except maybe change the rear brakes from drums to discs and install the Lancer OZ Racing alloys I brought .... again many moons ago. It has enough power for daily riding (around 120 HP at the fly wheel) and I only get to drive it for a few weeks a year so I hardly see the point. Rest of my household aren't automotive enthusiasts as such :)

The engine swap is actually quite easy. It drops straight in as the Mirage shares a lot of chassy and body of the Lancer with cosmetic changes and is a little bit lighter. It is the AWD conversion which proves to be a challenge, but not an insurmountable one. The conversion path to an Evo spec is the same for the Mirage as for the Lancer, so it is quite doable though I do not know anybody who has tried it on a Mirage yet.

But I do think the 4G93T engine is most manageable upgrade as the power upgrade is manageable with a FWD spec while with a bit of tuning you can get 200BHP out of that engine and for a car which weighs less than a tonne (mine is 980Kg on paper) that is quite a bit of power.

This is not including the AWD conversion or does it ?

the full conversion will include engine, gearbox, full suspension including diff, dash, sometimes seats. sometimes door.

ofcourse the more stuff you get, the higher the price.

the price mentioned is just for the parts.

installation will cost about 100k possibly depending on how much work.

 not in the bionic woman - six million dollar man kinda way!

I think there are a couple of these running around in SL. Mine is of the generation before.

The proton Wira's are essentially Mirages, with only cosmetic differences. The Proton Coupe is exactly the same as my car except it has the 4G93 engine in it (the bonnet and grille are slightly different).
