Y2K bikes has been around for awhile,if you remember this was the same bike that was featured in the last chase of the movie torque, last year they released this "streetfighter" version with improved horsepower at 420..i think they also dumped the rolls royce helicopter engine for the newer bike...

i honestly expected a helicopter engine to be much bigger than that.. hmm....

This bike is powered by one of the worlds smallest ,widely used and most reliable turbine engines-The Allison 250.

But the helicopter they show at timeline 0.35s is a Bell UH1 Huey. That heli is powered by a much bigger powerplant-Lycoming/Honeywell T53. Bell 206 Jetrangers are powered by similar Allison 250s

THE WRONG HELI SHOWN :P

i thought it was a rolls made engine on the first version..are you talking about the same engine?

EDIT...I just found out that it is the same engine... called the Rolls Royce Allison, 250 series gas turbine

excerpt from WIKI

Powered by a Rolls-Royce Model 250 turboshaft engine, producing 238 kW (320 hp), this motorcycle has a recorded top speed of 227 mph (365 km/h), with a price tag of US$150,000 (US$185,000 in 2004). It is recognized by Guinness World Records as the "Most powerful production motorcycle" and the "Most expensive production motorcycle." Unlike some earlier jet-powered motorcycles, where a massive jet engine provided thrust to push the motorcycle, the turboshaft engine on this model drives the rear wheel via a two-speed gearbox. Riding the motorcycle is said to be somewhat tricky due to the inherent throttle lag in the engine, acceleration when letting off the throttle, and extreme length.

But wow! freaking cool! In the 1st video the host says its used cos it has massive torque, right? does that mean the motorcycle has only one gear?

The company that makes the Y2K (Marine Turbine Technologies) usually fits these engines into boats. The original Y2K had a single speed transmission - the later bikes are fitted with a two-speed box, to aid acceleration as they call it

Rolls Royce 250/Allison 250/detroit diesel 250 /Military model T63 are the same engine.Minor Differences are designated from last two dash letters/numbers which they never specified in the video but mentioned as Bell 206 engine. So it has to be a 250-c17 or c20 engine.

Seems that this this Jey Leno's personal pet project

"It’s like the hand of God pushing you in the back," Jay Leno said about MTT Turbine Superbike. American TV presenter Jay Leno (NBC), famous for his great collection of super cars and bikes, is the proud owner of the first production MTT Turbine Superbike. He called it: “smooth”, “amazing” and “wicked fast”. As the leaders in turbine innovation, MTT has created the ultimate in high performance machines: the MTT Turbine Superbike. The Superbike is the world's first turbine powered street legal motorcycle in its class, and has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the "Most Powerful Motorcycle Ever to Enter Series Production" and the "Most Expensive Production Motorcycle". Power-driven by a Rolls Royce Allison gas turbine engine, the Superbike has demonstrated over 300 hp and 425 ft/lbs of torque on the Dyno Jet 200, and has been clocked at a record-breaking 227 mph.

Unlike some earlier jet-powered motorcycles, where a massive jet engine provided thrust to push the motorcycle, the turboshaft engine on this model drives the rear wheel via a two-speed gearbox. Riding the motorcycle is said to be somewhat tricky due to the inherent throttle lag in the engine. Representing the latest in engineering expertise, the bike also features carbon fiber fairings, a rear mounted camera with LCD color display, forward- and rear-looking radar detector with laser scrambler, one touch "Smart Start" ignition, and more. The MTT Turbine Superbike is starring in the Warner Brothers movie "TORQUE", and Men's Journal lists the bike as one the most "awe-inspiring, innovative, and otherwise amazing designs" in their feature article "Perfect Stuff". With production limited to five per year in customized colors and costing $150,000, the SUPERBIKE has become a revolution.
