Kimi Raikkonen will race a lighter Ferrari chassis in this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix in a bid to increase the benefit he gains from KERS. Raikkonen's heavier physique, relative to team mate Felipe Massa, means accommodating KERS has proven more of a challenge than on the Brazilian's car, hence the new lightweight F60.The new chassis (number 279) is part of a planned development programme which began at the end of 2008. Ferrari insist the reduced weight will in no way compromise the safety of Raikkonen's car and the revised chassis has already passed the mandatory FIA crash test. The team are also confident of improved KERS reliability following extensive work on the system since the last round in Bahrain.

Drivers: Fernando Alonso (Renault), Giancarlo Fisichella (Force India), Lewis Hamilton (McLaren), Nick Heidfeld (BMW Sauber).Q: Nick, how do you turn around the massive disappointment in Bahrain?Nick Heidfeld: Well, I think the position obviously was quite poor for the team. We could have performed stronger from our pace but it still would have been difficult to get into the points. Unfortunately we both had to change our front nose as we made contact with some other cars in turn one...

Not much has irked Brawn's Jenson Button this season, as his three victories and a third place have left him with a lead of 12 points in the championship fight. But there is one thing the Englishman is keen to set straight.“A lot of people talked about our strategy in Bahrain winning us the race, but while that was good, I think the key moves were me overtaking Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton on the first and second laps. Those first two laps were pivotal. Without that, I think we would have finished third. We definitely didn't have the quickest car there...

Jenson Button redefined the ante for the first practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix in the very last seconds on Friday morning. Just as it seemed that Jarno Trulli's 1m 22.154s for Toyota was the benchmark in a session notable for tight times, Button became the only man to dip below 1m 22s with a lap of 1m 21.799s for Brawn GP.BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld also jumped up the order in the dying moments, as laps of 1m 22.221s and 1m 22.658s lifted them to third and fourth...

Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima set the fastest times of the session - and of the day - for Williams in second practice in Barcelona on Friday afternoon. It was a relatively inconclusive end, as some other fancied combinations were clearly not running at their fastest. It was thus difficult to draw any hard and fast inferences from an important day on which everyone tried out their new aerodynamic packages.Rosberg, who stopped on the circuit right at the end, beat Jenson Button's morning time of 1m 21.799s in the Brawn with 1m 21.588s. Nakajima's best was 1m 21.740s. Fernando Alonso also dipped beneath it for 1m 21.781s for Renault.

Technical directors: Ross Brawn (Brawn GP), Aldo Costa (Ferrari), Patrick Head (Williams), Pat Symonds (Renault)Q: Ross, would you like to start on the overtaking situation as you and Pat were on the overtaking working group I think. Ross Brawn: No, I wasn't. Pat was. Our drivers are reporting that the cars are easier to follow. They have still got an imbalance when they follow other cars. But the cars are easier to follow...

Ferrari's Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen set the pace in Saturday morning's final practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix, but it is still likely, given a half second margin over Jenson Button's Brawn, that we have yet to see everyone play their true hand.Massa lapped Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya in 1m 20.553s - way faster than Raikkonen's 2008 pole time of 1m 21.813s - and the Finn managed 1m 20.635s. Button's third best time was 1m 21.050s, with team mate Rubens Barrichello fourth on 1m 21.163s.

Rubens Barrichello (Brawn GP), 1m 20.762sQ: Jenson, out in the very last minute of Q3 and what a lap it was.Jenson Button: It could have gone very, very wrong. We timed it quite well I think. But then I had (Robert) Kubica who I thought was on an out lap and I had to let him past when he caught me up. The guys said you have got four seconds in the last sector. Four seconds is slower than a proper lap time to get across the finish line, so I had to get a gap as I didn't know if he was going to continue and
