Hey guys, my toyota allion (NZT - 240) came with just the factory fitted cd player. I want to install a dvd / GPS system with a good reverse camera. Would greatly appreciate some advice on the following

1. What is the ideal brand for a Toyota 2004 allion? (which together with the vios has a slightly bigger pannel. So some standard players will have to be installed with plastic side fillers)

2. On ebay, i find the same players going at a cheaper price, even sometimes with 28%+ tax. But is there a prob in getting these down because of the gps capability?

3. There are some players which comes with the toyota brand etc, apparantely from toyota OEMs. But is it advisable to go for one of them or just go for a branded JVC or pioneer?

4. Most importantly, where can i get the original reverse camera for the allion, which has the markings indicated in the camera (green, yellow and red ones) and how much would it cost? if not what are the important things to consider when buying one?

Would greatly appreciate on any valuable input on the matter. My total budget is around 75 - 80k max

Hi,

Im not expert on this but this is my option, please correct me if I’m wrong

1. I cant comment on the best brand for Toyota allion

2. EBay has good players, but you cant bring down players with GPS (unless hand carry) as it may questioned and quarantined in custom. On the other hand I haven’t seen any sri Lankan GPS map (open map) other than Garmin map. Most of those GPS systems are not compatible with Garmin map, so most probably you can’t use GPS here.

3. The logo’s are just a image put on players ROM, and it doesn’t say it from OEM manufacture. (Even many cheap Chinese brands also have many branded logo embedded). If you need very good audio and video quality better to go for a branded model. Cheap player’s audio and video is Ok. But not superb. On the other hand Chinese players comes with sun and moon (every thing in one box), but some branded players don’t. eg:- Pioneer players doesn’t come with TV tuner. You have to purchase it separately.

4. In terms of reverse camera, most of cameras available in EBay is quite ok. Newest camera comes with built-in distance markings, recently I brought one from EBay for 28.00 USD (no night vision, but give good view even in night)

Some Chinese brands have total replacement units which include the entire front bezel, so they're indistinguishable from the factory fitted units. Avoid the Windows CE powered Chinese units, they're quite laggy.

Our company runs an Allion with a Chinese TV/DVD/Radio/Reverse Camera system. Everything was fine other than for the radio reception out of town (TV is never that great on these systems). Pulled it out and plonked in a Pioneer CD/Radio.

I also heard that some of the better known brands are available on Keyzer St. Pettah for a fraction of the cost. I'm yet to check it out.

On another Allion, we fitted a Kenwood DVD/ Radio player (Ab@ns Discount Sale @ 40% off) and a seperate Malaysian slideout screen with a built in TV tuner (P*tco). Everything is fine so far and it was cheaper than a branded TV/DVD unit. We were told a reverse camera can also be fitted on for an addtional 12.5k.

These chinese brands are more expensive than the pioneer, kenwood brands. Mainly because they have some insane features that god nows how long it will work for.

Any idea the average price range of these set ups in pettah (keyzer st.)?

this is the configuration of my cart audio system... and it gives me everything i want.... damn....red hot....big shot

Pioneer AVH p5100 <<< Kool master unit with heavy features...

4 pioneer 3way speakers as sat speakers (2 on front door panels and 2 on panel under the back seat)

one 10 inches pioneer shallow sub with pioneer amp(under the dash - and yesss it sounds bumping...lol)

2 RF subs with RF amp (in the trunk)

you can fix a reverse camera..but i dont need one soo i went for a shallow sub...

maxximum satisfaction guaranteed....

DONT EVER GO FOR CHINESE SHITS..it will be a total waste of your money...

this will cost a bit..but just think .... money or self satisfaction

Stuff on ebay seem to be endless when it comes to reverse cameras. But i am looking for the orginial reverse camera that comes for the Allion. Would any of the Japanese spare part shops have these for sale?

hmmm i've noticed that some of the places which sell In Car Entertainment systems carry some of the original double DIN heads units (console & all!)and stuff which come as original equipment on some JDM vehicles , so there may be a chance that they would have the reverse camera as well as its all kinda interconnected in some models such as the Prado etc...

worth giving BARA , ADVANCE ,SunLanka or Pet#o a call i recon...

machan, the item in ur link is not listed anymore. would u be able to upload a small pic (u get in ebay) of the reverse camera u got? or is it the one given below?

From where did in install it and at wht cost? I would first wanna know whether my car audio (orginal one came with the JDM) would support this, and then go ahead to purchase it.

And, also - wht's the % of tax u had to pay for customs?
