shanX
And wouldn't it be nice if they make changes on few rules regarding vehicle imports, like the age of vehicles that could be imported. As there are Emission test and such...

As there are Emission test and such... what are you suggesting machang? reduce the 3/5 year period or increase it? increasing the 3 year period will contradict your go green initiative and reducing the 3/5 year gap will increase the costs thus making motor cars even more unaffordable than they are at present. P.B. is infamous for temporary, short term, short sighted fixes aka 'gundu'. taking the countries current economic context into consideration it is impossible to reduce taxes. especially on a luxury items like motor cars unless other drastic measures are taken to cut back government expenditure, which will not happen under the current regime. quite similar to the recent interest rate stunt. how can banks lend money at 8 -12% when the base and interbank rates are in the region of 10 - 11%. yet another performance for the gallery audience. There are emissions tests to make cars Go green, so increasing it or disabling it, maybe with an added tax? And yea no idea how they would reduce taxes for these kind of items and go on.... Maybe a short term strategy of some sorts now that the elections are coming. On a side note... I think that SL Gov has lost a massive amount of revenue by imposing massive duties on vehicle simply because some one making decisions has said that by increasing taxes on motor vehicle imports they can increase the revenue. The opposite has happened with imports going down and gov earning lesser revenue.

Lets keep our fingers crossed and pray that it wont be a short term strategy.
